24.01.2022 2020 SFX Cross Country was a complete success this morning due to all the hard work of Mrs Welby and every student who participated and tried their little hearts out. The school spirit was almost palpable with most classes coming out to cheer the runners on. A great success!

21.01.2022 Neiva, from Yr. 6 is one of our students who is, without a doubt, going to be a life long learner. Please take the time to watch and listen to her describe the project she took on in her own time. Once again we are reminded how important subjects such as STEM are. (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics)

19.01.2022 Our Reef Guardian made some new signs for the recycle bins. They are doing such an amazing job!

19.01.2022 CYBER SAFETY Sgt Nigel Dalton and Senior Constable Steve Smith came to visit our school yesterday to educate the students on Cyber Safety. They had some very important messages for students and their parents about keeping themselves safe online. These are the words that Nigel and Steve used whilst speaking to the students. This is the law!... GAMING Your children ARE playing 18+ games This IS a criminal offence If you let them, YOU ARE committing a criminal offence Your children ARE talking to strangers on games Your children ARE leaving the games and talking to these strangers in instant messaging sites Your children ARE giving details about themselves in the message sites. The average age of a gamer is a 34 year old male, this is who your children are playing with!

15.01.2022 A Message from Mrs Tatchell Last Friday the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students came together to bake Lemon Myrtle Biscuits for a belated Deadly Dads gift. How many biscuits made it home I am not sure! We discussed the traditional uses of lemon myrtle; what it means to be deadly and listened to contemporary and modern music by Indigenous artists. The students loved baking and shared a lot of stories as we got to know each other better. We were also very blessed to ...have Mrs Zurvas and Mrs Day help us. If any parents are wanting the recipe please send an email to [email protected] I hope you all have a safe and well deserved school break, see you in term 4!

15.01.2022 Congratulations to St Mary’s who beat our SFX team in the State of Origin rugby league competition. The teams played 3 games, 2 draws and one win for St Mary’s, so they take the trophy, this time. Thank you to all those who gave their time and expertise to the students, in particular Mrs Wellby and Mrs Day.

09.01.2022 Prep Wet Day was a complete success from a five year old’s point of view! There was water, sliding, sun, no shoes and most importantly, no school work! Thank you Amanda & Tammy, Fiona & Kathy and Karen & Jeannette, you made some little people so very happy!

08.01.2022 Liam came down to show us the extra work he is doing at home. He said, My mum is very clever, she knows everything. I don’t know much, but I am getting better. He earned a special painted rock from Ms Rostirolla and the congratulations of the whole leadership team. If you ever wondered why teachers, teach..... this is why!

06.01.2022 Our Yr. 5-6 students were absolutely mesmerised by the performances of the Mercy and St Patrick’s students this morning. They wowed us with their band, drumming, dancing and cheering routines. It was also a lovely opportunity for our teachers to be able to say ‘welcome home’ to our ex St Francis Xavier students. They are all so talented and we thank, most sincerely all the staff and students of both Mercy College and St Patrick’s College, who provided our students with such a high standard of entertainment. Your enthusiasm for your performance work was so obvious, we loved every second. Thank you!

06.01.2022 Our Prep classes went on an excursion to the Botanical Gardens yesterday to take some little gifts for anyone who visits the gardens. There all painted some rocks and hid them amongst the gardens and rocks for people to find. What a lovely surprise!
