09.01.2022 Today is the feast day of Saint Catherine of Siena, the patron saint of nurses. Born during the outbreak of the plague, she was one of 25 children, however only... half of her siblings survived childhood. Despite her religious nature, she did not choose to enter a convent and instead joined the Third Order of St. Dominic, which allowed her to associate with a religious society while living at home. She often visited hospitals and homes where the poor and sick were found. She is credited with composing over 400 letters, her Dialogue, which is her definitive work, and prayers. These works are so influential that St. Catherine would later be declared a Doctor of the Church. She is also the patron of Italy, illness, miscarriages and people ridiculed for their faith. St Catherine of Siena, pray for us. #catherine #siena #Italy #dominican #illness #miscarriages #nurses See more
