23.01.2022 After more than four long months we're singing together again - in smaller COVID-safe groups across multiple sessions each week, but we're back, and it's amazing! The SFYL! Choir remains closed to new members but if you're in Hobart and you're wanting to join a choir, you might like to consider applying to join the Ho-Ho-Hobart Christmas Choir for their upcoming season of carol-singing. Do note that (unlike SFYL) you need to have some music-reading skills to sing with Ho-Ho-Ho. 20.01.2022 Some of our singers will be popping up unannounced around Hobart during November - you never know where you might see and hear us next! Yesterday morning a small group of early-risers gathered for a COVID-safe sing in Princes Park at Battery Point. It was a glorious morning of blue sky and sunshine - what better way to celebrate it than by cranking out a few tunes? <3 Lyn Rose

15.01.2022 EXCITING NEWS! SFYL! Choir live streamed 'Show & Tell' Wednesday 28 October, 7.30pm - 8.00pm (AEDST) Tune in to the Local TV Live YouTube channel to see about sixty of us singing (COVID-safely!) together in Hobart's beautiful Town Hall.... This will be our biggest choir session since March. In a year that's been full of cancellations and uncertainty, we want to celebrate this occasion with you - our families and friends, our members who aren't able to attend rehearsals at the moment, and our wider choir community. This isn't a 'concert' - it'll be somewhere between a rehearsal and a performance - informal and fun, with lots of waving at the camera. Anything could happen - tune in on 28 October! Handy hint: Subscribe to the LocalTVLive YouTube channel and you'll receive a reminder before the broadcast starts. This event will FREE to view - but if you'd like to contribute to the costs of making it all happen, there will be an opportunity to donate a few dollars during the event. 15.01.2022 Some of our singers popped up unannounced again yesterday evening, gathering for a rather windy but really fun outdoor sing in Mathers Place. Who knows where we'll turn up next? (well, we do, but we're not telling!) :)

11.01.2022 Our choir is hosting a 'virtual toy drive' to support the Hobart City Mission Christmas fundraising program this year. You don't have to be a member of our choir to support this cause - all donations welcome! :)

08.01.2022 Hobart City Mission has received more than 700 applications in their Christmas Assistance program this year - these applications include more than 1300 children..., all of whom will receive a gift through the program. I'm delighted to let you know that our Virtual Toy Drive has raised more than $2000 (which equates to more than 80 toys and games). Thank you to everyone who contributed - this is a wonderful example of 'Choir=Community'. 07.01.2022 We're so fortunate to be living in a place where we can get together in-person (albeit rather far away from each other) to sing. Our 'Sunday group' features in the World Singing Day 'Around the World in 80 Songs' compilation video for the eastern Australian timezone - we had a great time filming this in early September, and celebrating the joy of singing together. <3 www.facebook.com/watch/

05.01.2022 Sadly the Sing For Your Life! Choir has suspended rehearsals for the time being. We'll be doing some learning from home, so if life has returned to some kind of normal later this year we'll be ready to get out there and perform for you. Our hearts go out to other choirs in this difficult situation, and of course to our friends at the Festival of Voices. This will pass, and we'll sing together again. <3

These songs are great for community choirs - easy to teach, easy to learn, and easy to adapt to suit the style of any choir. We've just added a new song to the online shop today - the lovely and simple 'Thula Mama', which means 'hush Mama' in Zulu.
