15.01.2022 "My Dad who was in full time care was continually asking what day and time it was. Bought one of these clocks. Nurses were so happy he could read and understand... what time it was and he could remember that it was Alison who bought him the clock. The clock could be set for 12 hour or 24 hour display. So many on the nurses and residents were asking where to get these from. One of the best presents I could have bought him!" ~ Alison, Aus We are so grateful for all of the families, friends and carers out there doing everything they can to be advocates for their loved one. 13.01.2022 Sandgate Meals on Wheels wishes to advise the community that we are still delivering meals to our clients 5 days a week. We have a COVIC-19 Emergency Response Plan in place and are keeping our clients, their families and volunteers up to date. Thank you to our dedicated and valued volunteers and staff who continue to volunteer during these times and to members of the community who have reached out and contacted us this week to offer their assistance. We truly are blessed - stay safe and well everyone...

Many community organisations, programs, clubs and sports would simply not exist without the dedication of volunteers. Volunteering is an essential community resource which promotes active citizenship and social inclusion. Volunteering extends value to our communities to make them safe, robust, inclusive and culturally rich as volunteers come from all walks of life and come together... to achieve a common goal for their volunteer organisation. Volunteering provides a vehicle for individuals or groups to address human, environmental and social needs. Volunteering is often thought of in terms of the benefits it brings to others; however, it also benefits the individual; increased social interaction, self-awareness and confidence, benefits mental health, helping them to achieve their own objectives, enhance their skills and extend their experience in various working environment and more broadly the Aged Care sector.
