16.01.2022 Our family has been devastated with the news that our Dad has a life threatening blood disease and the only cure is a bone marrow transplant. A bone marrow tra...nsplant can only be from an exact DNA stem cell match- which ultimately can come from anyone in the world, not just family, but we are yet to find a match for Dad. In the meantime Dad will be having blood transfusions every 3 weeks, along with additional treatment to slow down the disease. To show our support for Dad, we have created a Life Blood team through Red Cross called 'Team Ridge' and we are pleading for as many people as possible to help us to find a match and to donate blood. To complete the Bone Marrow test to see if you are a match you must be between the age of 18-45yrs (after the 12th Oct the age limit is being reduced to 35yrs nationally) it is as simple as donating blood at your local Red Cross blood centre and asking them to have your blood results added to the Bone Marrow donor list. It is so simple to create an account and make an appointment online (or you can call 13 14 95). Any age is able to give blood as long as they fit the standard eligibility criteria. If you are able to help us, please don't forget to ask for your blood to be tested for the Bone Marrow Register and please be added to 'Team Ridge' in support of our Dad, we will be forever thankful! https://www.donateblood.com.au/lifeblood-teams
