17.01.2022 "Democracy Matters" is a collaborative, multi-disciplinary, youth and student-led project. SGIR is proud that the initial research undertaken by SGIR's Dr Tracey Arklay and, former lecturer and PhD alumna, Dr Caitlin Mollica inspired the project which led to the development of an ad for the Electoral Commission of Queensland encouraging young people to enrol to vote. It was a great team effort featuring the Policy Innovation Hub, Social Marketing at Griffith and Griffith Film School's Live Lab. You can view the project video by clicking the image below.

07.01.2022 **Student News** On 14 November, BGIR student, Mariel Verroya saw her hard work with the United Nations Association of Australia Queensland (UNAA Qld) come to fruition with a forum on West Papua being conducted at St Stephen's Cathedral. The forum, an initiative Mariel developed, attracted academic experts in the field. She also spoke to participants on her research into child soldiers. Mariel undertook an internship with UNAA Qld earlier this year where she had the opport...unity to do in-depth research and analysis on her passion, West Papua. Mariel said that she, '... will forever be grateful for the skills that honed through the Bachelor of Government and International Relations, particularly in public speaking and research.'
