23.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS. Subclass 457 visas abolished. Australian PM announced today. But also announced a new temporary visa will be released with tougher English criteria. UPDATE: There will be a new temporary visa stream with the list of occupations reduced by over 200 job types. Two streams: one targets higher skills (4 yr visa), and another a shorter term that does not lead to permanent residency (2 yr visa). Regional still priority. It is about putting Aussies first. Those on 45...7s at the moment will have a 'grand father' arrangement, meaning they will be able to continue on their visa. Advertising (labour market testing) Visa lodgement charges per adult $1150 for 2 yr visa, and $ (check +- 1700) (currently about 95000 x 457 visa holders in Aus with PR outcome possibility). 2 yr visa can be renewed once onshore then must go offshore, while the 4 yr visa is more flexible and can lead to PR. The migration program should only operate for the benefit of Australia, and Aus national interest. See more

19.01.2022 RECENT CHANGES TO CHARACTER TEST AND ITS CONSEQUENCES ONE CHILE NATIONAL FACING DEPORTATION ON 11TH NOVEMBER AFTER 40 YEARS OF LIVING AS NOW AGED 41 YEARS ARRIVED WHEN ONLY ONE YEAR OLD THEN MARRIED HAVING THREE CHILDREN LIVING IN AUSTRALIA AND ALREADY SERVED 18 MONTHS PRISON TIME IN 2006 AND NOW IN IMMIGRATION DETENTION CENTER IN SYDNEY AS RECENT IMMIGRATION CHANGES IN DECEMBER 2014 MEANS ANYBODY SERVED 12 MONTHS JAIL FACE AUTOMATIC DEPORTATION Published: November 9, 2015 ...- 12:00AM In two days time, a Brisbane man who has only ever called Australia home, is due to be deported to a country he has no memory of. Ricardo Bolvaran's parents and grandparents fled Chile in 1974 when Ricardo was one year old, escaping the brutality of the Pinochet regime for a new life in Australia. Now 41 and a recovering ice addict, the father of three was given a choice between Christmas Island or deportation to the South American nation of his birth, following his incarceration for offences largely committed at the height of his drug addiction. Mr Bolvaran was told on 31 August, while still at the Brisbane Correctional Centre, that his residency visa had been cancelled under the Migration Act, with his offences meaning he no longer passed the character test. Raised in Australia, and with three sons to his partner of nearly a quarter of a century, Rachel Delucia, Mr Bolvaran lacked the funds to continue to challenge the immigration ruling. He remains in Sydney's Villawood Immigration Detention Centre and will be deported to Chile on Wednesday. Ms Delucia said she and her children were unable to farewell Mr Bolvaran, as they could not afford another trip. "We're just exhausted, I just can't anymore," she said on Sunday. "I don't think people realise the extent of what is happening to us. He has lived here all his life. His family is here. He has nothing there, nothing, but we can't fight it. "All we can do now is just see what happens." Bolvaran was jailed in July on a string of offences including drug possession, possession of a knife in public and receiving tainted property among other charges. Bolvaran pleaded guilty to all charges, committed in 2012 and 2013. He had also been sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment in June 2006, which was central to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection's decision to revoke his residency visa on character grounds in August. The Queensland Council of Civil Liberties said Mr Bolvaran, having spent his life here since, was "essentially Australian" and had been raised "as a product of Australian society" and deportation cases like Mr Bolvaran deserved to be looked at more closely.

10.01.2022 AUSTRALIA 18th Dec 2015 THOUSANDS of new migrants to Australia will be forced to wait two years to access welfare if they cannot get a job, under a $225 million budget cut revealed this week. The cut was released in Treasurer Scott Morrison's mid-year budget update, on top of a further $2 billion in savings in the social services portfolio.... Under the changes, newly arrived migrants who get a visa to join their family or spouse will no longer be able to claim an exemption from a two-year "waiting period" to access social services payments applied to some other migrant groups. The move will save the Turnbull Government up to $225 million over four years from January 2017, funds that budget documents show will go to "repair the budget and fund policy priorities". If past immigration trends continue, the change could affect more than 30% of all permanent migrants to Australia each year. The latest statistics showed 61,085 migrants moved to Australia in 2014-15 to join spouses or family members who were either Australian citizens or permanent residents. That equated to 32% of the total migration pool for the financial year, with the remaining 68% dominated by those who came on skilled migration visas. Of those migrating under the "family stream" last year, immigration data shows 47,825 were spouses, 4135 were children joining parents and the remainder were classed as "other" migrants. The mid-year budget update also showed an almost $1 billion blowout in the cost of running the immigration detention network in the past year. The cut comes amid a wider social services crackdown using data matching to check Centrelink claims against tax office records - a program expected to raise $2 billion over four years. The government also hopes to raise a further $29 million over four years by expanding "debt recovery" efforts in the Department of Human Services. B
