23.01.2022 RESPECT AND GRATITUDE!!!! A year on from last summer's horrific bush fires, sadly, we are at the crossroads again with the Bushfires razing down our communities in North East Perth. To say we live in paradise is not untrue and while we may be lucky in being unharmed so far, responsibility lies with us all to preserve this paradise ... What this pandemic and the natural calamities have taught me is that it never discriminates and when the bubbles that we live in are shook, ch...ances are we find humanity persevere in face of calamity... These bushfires are no different.... the times are a testament to the Aussie spirit of "Mateship", our communities banding together and amidst all this chaos - our true heroes with their hard hats and fighting spirit - protecting us, never giving up.... Salute and a Big Thank You to all Emergency Service Workers, First Responders, Volunteers and each and every Western Australian and Australian chipping in to help and protect!!

04.01.2022 REFLECT... RESPECT... CELEBRATE 26TH JANUARY - One Date - meant to unite a nation and yet, it is a date that is source of much pain and grief for many. I was asked, very recently, by an Indigenous Nyoongar Elder, what I thought about Australia Day? My Immediate answer to her was that as a migrant, in the very first instance, I viewed Australia Day to be an anchor of our identity as Australians. However, having lived here for over 13 years, I have become more aware and empathe...tic of the differing views on this day and celebration - from that of Indigenous Australians and that of the "New Australia" identity. Nevertheless, we all as one nation need to have a respectful discussion on the differing views and come to a common platform. The Date - 26th January has many other connections and relevance to me - apart from being birthdate of 10 of my family members - including my brother and his son, 26th January also happens to be the Republic Day of India - Country of my birth - one that is still part of me and the one I take immense Pride in for its Journey of struggles for freedom and achievements since. So on 26th January 2021, I reflected on the relevance of this date for me as a person and me as an Australian. For me as a person, the date is that of celebration of my Birth Country and my Family. For me as an Australian, the Date is one to reflect on the Journey of Australia as a Country - the Journey has stories of Glory and Pain and Stories that are hard to hear too. I spent the day with my friends and family along the beautiful Swan River a big shout out to my dear friend, and Campaign Manager, Preeti Kothari, who walked with me, as together, we witnessed the opening of the Bridge Climb at Iconic Matagarup Bridge. My heart is filled with gratitude for the blessings of good health and bounty and the freedom that we all have in this beautiful paradise and respect and admiration for all the Soldiers, Farmers, Workers, Health Workers, Educators, Innovators, and Leaders who have made it possible for us to be able to enjoy this gift. At the end of the day, I sincerely believe that as Australians, we all need to come together as one nation, and give each other the respect of having our perspective but more importantly, afford the respect to all its children - starting with the First Nations People, to tell their stories, to hear them, to understand their pain and then rise from the ashes of these trials and tribulations and celebrate becoming One Australia, upholding peace, unity and harmony by accepting and respecting different cultures, communities, working together on a better tomorrow!
