22.01.2022 Congratulations to our heroes this week, Maddy and Judy, who have raised over $6k when they only started their challenge 11 days ago! Inspired by Judys Parkinsons diagnosis, Maddy and Judy started a challenge to walk 10,000 steps per day and drink no alcohol for the month of September. Their friends, family and community have come out in force to support the duo with their challenge and donating generously with one goal in mind a cure for Parkinsons.

The Run like Gump challenge has been inspired by Ryans Aunty Denise who has Parkinsons. Its been an amazing success so far, raising over $2k and counting, and its not stopping yet! This weekend, Ryan will be finishing off his fundraising by running a huge 50km route to inspire more donations and get the message out there about Parkinsons. Estimates are 80 to 90% of people with Parkinsons experience speech impairments with approx 4% of patients seeking treatment to address the issue. Dr Lindsey Collins-Praino, Associate Professor of Medical Science at Adelaide University said, "Your voice is a muscle just like the muscles of your body and you need to also work that as well." #SpeechAwarenessWeek

17.01.2022 The Monkey Mia team havent quite finished their fundraising for this year! Earlier this year, the boys went on a country ride for the Covid-19 desert trip, raising over $30k for Shake It Up and Parkinsons research. As we move into the second half of this year, the boys are again fundraising, this time through an online art auction. Four generously-donated artworks, will be auctioned off online over the next 10 days. The artworks come from famous Australia artists, Kim Passalaqua, Chris McClelland, David Taylor and Ida Montague. 11.01.2022 Could you run the same distance as Everest? Our hero this week is Suzanne, who is running 130km in 14 days the same distance and time it took her father to complete Everest Base Camp. Suzanne is honouring her father, who had Parkinson’s, and challenging herself to get the message out there about Parkinson’s. Her challenge begins on Monday 23 November and she has already raised over $5,500 for Parkinson’s!

10.01.2022 Congratulations to the Amaysim team who completed their challenge this week, raising a mighty $3,440 for Parkinsons. Over their 30 day challenge, they also completed over 4,168km (thats the distance between Sydney and Perth!!) and over 36,000 active minutes. 10.01.2022 Our hero this week is Steve, who is participating in our Bay of Fires trek for Parkinson’s in beautiful Tasmania. The Bay of Fires trek is now fully booked with all places secured. We’ll be introducing more of our trekkers to you over the next few months as they start fundraising and preparations for the trek next year. Steve has started fundraising and has already raised over $11,000 from his very generous friends and family. We spoke to Steve about what drives his commitment to Parkinson’s and what he’s looking forward to most about the trip.
