24.01.2022 Hi everyone. It was an absolute pleasure today to record and upload a Prenatal Yoga Class (yoga for pregnancy). This sequence is a slow moving, stretching and strengthening class, which should be suitable for all stages of pregnancy. Please be advised that it is generally not recommended for women in the First Trimester to practice yoga. I’m especially feeling for those women in self-isolation preparing to birth in this time of the pandemic, and really hope that many women can benefit from doing yoga in their own homes to help stay centred and calm. 21.01.2022 This morning I launched my new pre & post natal class at Living Yoga Sanga, in Mullumbimby. Thanks to the women who came along and made it a beautiful experience. I’m always humbled to share Yoga with women throughout this sacred and all-consuming time in our lives, I remember so clearly what a lifeline it was and continues to be, through my years of having babies. Such a joy to see women getting the benefits of this ancient science. And it was a bonus to see my dear friend Aesha Kennedy teaching a class across the hallway at Sat Nam Institute. I just love our yoga community in Mullum and right across the Byron Shire. Sharing the love. Om shanti.

17.01.2022 Love love love parsvakonasana for Pregnancy, (not that I’m pregnant here, but you can imagine a gorgeous baby bump sitting easily out in front). Standing poses - ideally we will birth in an upright position, or at least be walking around in the early part of labour, so we need strong legs and a degree of fitness! Feeling grounded and connected to Mother Earth through our feet. In this position we can also practice drawing up the muscles of the pelvic floor to support the lowe...r back and maintain core strength. Our back hip gets a beautiful opening (can be compromising for women with pelvic instability however, so go gently). Resting the forearm on the thigh with the elbow bent to get extra support. The whole front of the body gets space to open - the lungs can fully expand, create space under the rib cage and into the waist. (Remember your waist?!) Tuck the tailbone and lengthen through the lumbar. We get a lovely long reach and extension through the top shoulder and arm. And it’s a nice position to look up to the sky and soften the face with a gentle smile. All in all, this is a great pose to stretch out in all directions and create space in the body. Then of course we swivel the feet and do it on the other side to balance up.
