25.01.2022 The simple pranayama practice of Sama Vritti. Keeping your breath even and gentle. Allow for a softening from the outer edges of your body moving inwards. Notice your rib cage, side ribs, back ribs to your front ribs. Allow your belly to be soft. And in these precious moments allow your breath to support and nurture you.

25.01.2022 Viparita Karani (legs up the wall) or the chair version is one of my favourite poses. Good for when you are feeling: - fatigued, - experiencing tired and aching legs and lower back (especially after spending long periods of time standing); - calming to the mind and your nervous system,... - position of your body in this way allows for deeper breathing; - beneficial for pelvic floor health for women. This supported inversion allows the pelvis to have a mini-vacation from the upper weight of the body, a change in gravity and helpful for pelvic floor prolapses by assisting the uterus (as well as other internal organs) to return its correct position. The video below shows some more benefits.

23.01.2022 To all happy world Gratitude day. To self, to family, friends, community and beyond. Take this day to reflect, honour and express that gratitude in whatever way you can, a hand written card, a phone call, a care package. "May I see this day through sacred eyes, shape this day with helpful hands, end this day with a grateful heart" Mary Davis.

23.01.2022 A few months ago I was invited to take part in a Podcast with Penny of #AlwaysinyourCorner and #DiscoveryourWild to talk about Peri-menopause and Menopause, from my own perspective, experience and studies in and teaching Yoga for Women. Enjoy while having a cuppa. https://podcasts.apple.com//shine-love-light-/id1500335240 https://open.spotify.com/episode/4mdHxEmM0exEs35N26Nko4

22.01.2022 I love this quote below from Judith Hanson Lasater. Two years ago I was fortunate to undertake Restorative yoga teacher training with Lizzie Lasater in Melbourne (Judith's daughter). The richness of this practice has deepened my own personal practice to connect with self and allow my parasympathetic nervous system to take centre stage and be completely nourished and honour the biochemistry of my body. But also equally to interweave Restorative Yoga and its innate wisdom wi...thin my yoga classes for my students in a very intuitive way. I feel very humble to teach this ancient practice, but to also continue to be inspired and open to learn from so many wonderful teachers who have followed this path of learning and teaching and imparting such knowledge to other teachers for many decades. To integrate these teachings enriches my understanding, and reaffirms my purpose to serve in this way.

21.01.2022 Look who I caught on my yoga mat. Hey you are are not doing downward dog! That’s more side reclined restorative pose without the props.

20.01.2022 It was world menopause day yesterday. Sharing a link from Sharon Blackie. Her book If Women Rose Rooted is a battle cry for the feminine to step into her power for herself, others and Mother Earth. In her book she speaks of her experience of going through Menopause. Wisdom through hearing other’s stories is so empowering and shines a light on a topic that has been taboo.

19.01.2022 Very excited to embarking on these further studies starting next week. These times are allowing me the space to follow my passion in continuing to learn about a practice I so dearly love and how to adapt and make it accessible for more and more people of diverse and various needs, to help, serve and make a difference in this world. Finished my extension studies in Yoga - anatomy and physiology in pelvic floor health for women, and prenatal and postnatal pelvic floor health too. Also working through finishing my prenatal and postnatal yoga teacher training as well. Love it, so inspired and grateful.

16.01.2022 Hey Yoga Friends - putting the word out I need to find new locations to teach my yoga classes for 2021. For most of this year I have been teaching via Zoom for private clients and corporates and in the meantime a few studios I ran my classes from have closed for good or are not available at present. I am looking for a yoga studio or community centre to hire the space in inner north or eastern suburbs - ie Kew, Hawthorn or Richmond closer to Hawthorn.

13.01.2022 The many forms of growth.

13.01.2022 Loving this super easy breath work you can do anytime, anywhere. Perfect for both adults & children and a few rounds of this before bed sends you off to a dreamy sleep... Take a mindful moment to breathe and cultivate a sense of calm and peace in your body and mind. Try this infinity breathing technique with your little yogis at home and for yourself in stressful anxious moments Great before starting a home activity and to feel more grounded. ... It is basically an 8 on its side so can be used if the kids are learning numbers too! Let me know how you go! As spotted on My Yoga Playground.

12.01.2022 A lovely and simple practice to connect and become grounded, allowing your senses to experience the moment in a gentle way.

12.01.2022 Goodness I am missing the ocean, sinking my toes into the wet sand, and as I breathe in those deep breaths taking in the ocean air, and gazing at the horizon, it reminds me that everything will be ok. So take this moment to have a few deep breaths and close your eyes or have a soft gaze and in your minds eye bring into your mind your favourite beach and imagine you are there - take the energy and inner calmness within.

11.01.2022 Embrace your uniqueness. It’s your super power.

10.01.2022 My favourite poem. Clearing by Martha Postlewaite Do not try to save the whole world... or do anything grandiose. Instead, create a clearing in the dense forest of your life and wait there patiently, until the song that is your life falls into your own cupped hands and you recognize and greet it. Only then will you know how to give yourself to this world so worth of rescue. See more

09.01.2022 In honour of the gorgeous weather coming to us this weekend in Victoria. Enjoy the rays of energy to keep for a cloudy day and be the sunshine in another's life.

06.01.2022 For all Dads this Sunday. Happy Father's Day.

05.01.2022 This is honest and brilliant!

04.01.2022 On my daily walks around my neighbourhood, I am falling in love with observing natures ability to inspire hope and creativity by just following its own innate wisdom and intuition. The flower that really resonates with me at present is the daisy - so many different varieties, colours and shapes. The daisy represents purity, innocence, simplicity and transformation. In Norse mythology the daisy flower was a symbol of the Norse love and fertility goddess Freya.... It also represents the energy of the sun and is actually two flowers in one. For me the daisy represents playfulness, immense possibility and joy. The photo of daisies are ones I recently picked. Finding joy along my path.

03.01.2022 Are you feeling like you need to carve out that time to return for self once more? Are you an existing student, or just curious as to how a more feminine approach to a traditional yoga practice can be adapted to nurture and support the female body doing times of hormonal changes, and impact of stress upon them. As women our hormonal balance and stress levels go hand in hand as we age and head into our peri-menopausal and menopausal years. I liken the onset of peri-menopause...Continue reading
