24.01.2022 ROCKHAMPTON Councillors showing their support for Bowen Basin mining industry event in Mackay. Coal = more Rockhampton jobs. Rockhampton is open for business.

24.01.2022 Today the choice was Gladstone or Gracemere. We chose Cedric Archer Park at Gracemere. So much for the kids to do. Great open park facility for the whole family. Watch the turtles from the suspension bridge. Worth a visit today. Enjoy this park.

23.01.2022 Meals on Wheels Rockhampton received the remainder of my leftover Council Election funds. Rather than let the bank eat it up in fees, I decided to donate it to a not-for-profit organisation that makes a difference in our community. They were kind enough to show me around the amazing kitchen and other facilities they have. They do a wonderful job and deserve donations. Well Done.

23.01.2022 Planted a new native tree for National Tree Day at the Kershaw Gardens with most of the other Councillors. Thanks to RRC groundsmen who dug the holes and made sure we planted them correctly. One day, in many years time, families will be able to enjoy a picnic underneath these beautiful shady trees.

20.01.2022 South Rockhampton Kindy has the future generation of "Waste Warriors" who care about our environment and recycling. Cr Kirkland, Cr Wickerson and myself went up to congratulate the kids on being aware of what to do with rubbish and the importance of recycling. They are so enthusiastic for a cleaner Botanic Gardens and Murray Lagoon. Well Done kids and educators !!

20.01.2022 Attending the 124th LGAQ Conference at Gold Coast. A chance to wear the new Blazer with the newly approved RRC Crest in official duties. A great event to network with our neighbouring Councillors and Mayors. Grateful to have the support of my wife and family at this event.

19.01.2022 Qld Fire Service received a new $800,000 Fire Truck. With the huge fire in the Berserker Ranges at the moment, it has come at the right time. Presented by Barry O'Rourke and attended by most RRC Councillors.

18.01.2022 RRC ratepayers can get 2 free native plants from City Hall. Please read article for more details. Another initiative by Council to beautify our region.

17.01.2022 Looking for things to do these school holidays? Family Fun & Adventure every Sunday morning at Full Draw Field Archery Club. RRC provided much needed funds to purchase Archery equipment recently with the Community Assistance Program grants. Phone Brian on 0423061755 for more details. Only $25/Family for visitors with all equipment supplied. Fun, friendly & safe.

15.01.2022 Parkhurst has a newly upgraded park in time for school holidays. Joe Harrison Park is located behind Parkhurst Primary School off Brosnan Cr. It is ideal for all ages and it is shaded. It's a little gem worth finding in Parkhurst. Very popular with the local kids. Thanks RRC for a great community facility.

14.01.2022 The Rockhampton Zoo reopens to the public from this Monday. The chimps and pretty birds wished me a Happy 50th Birthday today. Thanks to Zoo Manager Liz, Cr Rutherford and Cr Kirkland for a Birthday to remember.

13.01.2022 Australia's longest "pump track" for scooters and bikes was opened today in Cedric Archer Park, Gracemere by Mr Barry O'Rourke MLA, Mayor Strelow with most Councillors present. Amazing facility that will be popular with the active kids in our community. Another win for our Region.

12.01.2022 Another amazing little gem in "Sanctuary Estate", Norman Gardens on Sunset Dr. (off German Street). Shaded playground where the locals chill with a guitar and chat on the tables provided. Beautiful spot for a picnic with family these school holidays. Bring your dogs with lots of space to run around and play.

10.01.2022 It's OFFICIAL - the Division One work office for Cr Shane Latcham is now OPEN for local visits (Bookings only - phone 0437857736 for appointments) I have personally paid for all expenses to get this work office up and running; except for office equipment supplied by RRC. No ratepayers money used for building this office. Thank-you to the Mayor and Councillors for paying a social visit to my Office last week. I appreciate the effort to spend some of your precious time to inspect my work Office.

08.01.2022 Moores Creek is so beautiful in Spring. Waterlillies are so calming near Alexander Chisholm Park, Norman Gardens. Worth a visit. (Note:Hard to find, look it up on RRC website.)

07.01.2022 Attended my first official Australian Citizenship ceremony late this afternoon in the prestigious Jim Webber Room , Rockhampton City Hall. The Mayor did a superb job in her official capacity in full gown and Mayoral chain. About 20 new Australians sworn in to enhance and contribute to the fabric of our Rockhampton community. So proud to be able to represent the good people of Rockhampton at important community milestones. Aussie...Aussie...Aussie.

07.01.2022 It's great to see this new Bus Shelter at Caltex on Yaamba Road, North Rockhampton for the Emmaus College students as well as for the general public. Thank you RRC for upgrading bus pick up areas around the Rockhampton region. Making it safer for our community.

06.01.2022 RRC is trialling using recycled glass in construction of asphalt bitumen roads in Rockhampton. This project feeds into RRWR's broad vision to move to a zero waste economy to reduce 120,000 crushed glass bottles and containers ending up in landfill. Building better roads with recycled materials is good for our environment and ultimately saves our ratepayers.

06.01.2022 Rockhampton Museum of Art celebrates 12 months of construction today. Officiated by representatives from all 3 levels of government: Michelle Landry, Barry O'Rourke and RRC Cr Drew Wickerson. Scheduled to be completed before April 2021. There has been more than 2200 cubic metres of concrete poured in this project; which is helping to support local businesses. Watch this space. This is an exciting project for our arts community.

06.01.2022 We will remember them, Lest we Forget. Remembrance Day dedication at North Rockhampton Nursing Home fence along Norman Road, Norman Gardens.

04.01.2022 Helped remove illegal dumping at Mount Archer this morning. Thanks also to Cr Neil Fisher, RRC Officer on duty and Rohan Maxim (who alerted us on fb) for lending a helping hand to remove this rubbish promptly. Report illegal dumping. It ultimately puts a drain on our community.

03.01.2022 Rural Road Safety Awareness Month at Kershaw Gardens with Councillor Drew Wickerson. Hundreds of hats laid out to represent lives lost in our region on rural roads each year. Sadly, many of these accidents could have been preventable by driving to the road conditions. Please take care on the roads.

02.01.2022 A big Happy Birthday to my fellow RRC Councillor and friend, Neil Fisher. Thanks goes to the Rocky Mountain Cafe for a memorable morning tea and to Cr Donna Kirkland for joining us.

01.01.2022 Today, my family witnessed a special event - the Australian Citizenship ceremony in the Jim Webber Room at City Hall. Five new Rockhampton residents officially became Australian citizens. Cr Neil Fisher did a great job as our official Ambassador, Cr Ellen Smith read the Letter from the Minister of Immigration and Cr Donna Kirkland sang the National Anthem proudly. The kids were looking forward to seeing the Mayor in her ceremonial robe. Next time....?

01.01.2022 Enjoying the Show Holiday at the top of Mount Archer, with family. Rocky has really turned on some gorgeous weather. Great BBQ facilities for the community to use

01.01.2022 The official floral emblem of Rockhampton is the ... ? There is a beautiful bauhinia tree near Moore's Creek Road on the Southern side of Division One (near Lighthouse School, heading back along Norman Road). It is covered in flowers. Magnificent.
