25.01.2022 Who said campaigning was easy. Cutting up stakes for signage, ready and rearing to go

24.01.2022 Let’s talk grass roots. Here I have a photo of my great grandfather leading one of his horse teams. 21 horses pulling 22 Tonne of boiler for the old Scottish Mine Monkland. The popper legs still remain at the site. In the back ground you can see what is now the duck ponds. Further in the distance is his house on top of the hill. This is near where Carter Holt Harvey is today. Gympie... It’s in my blood.

22.01.2022 Well it’s all about to get real. Setting a campaign and listening to the responses. I’d like to shout out to all of those with their kind words of positivity and hope. It means a lot. Stay posted!

20.01.2022 Full steam ahead printing pamphlets and corflutes. Also a big thank you to all with your positive feedback on my campaign. Very humbling.

20.01.2022 My name is Shane Waldock, I’m 41 years of age, 4th generation Gympie local and I’ll be standing in the next council election in March for division 3. Many of you in Gympie will know me after I returned from 9 years service and put my engineering training to use in managing local commercial and industrial construction sites where I gained experience in planning and budgeting - a skill which seems to be sadly lacking in our current Council. For the past 14 years my wife Joanne ...and I have run a successful local business, the Gympie West Store and Service Station, which has served the community for over 70 years. We know what it is like when rates and charges keep going up and like you, we also want to see our hard earned dollar going towards better use. My time in the Australian Defence Force gave me many experiences including leadership skills, but perhaps the greatest lesson from my military service was to speak up when you saw a problem and offer a solution to fix it. Why am I running in this election? Well like many of you I am disappointed with the neglect and mismanagement of our Council’s basic responsibilities. Gympie deserves an open and accountable government who are committed to serve and listen to you its residents and ensure that council follows through with its promises, because at the end of the day you the people are ultimately in charge. I'm passionate about our local area because as a small business owner Gympie is not just my home, it's my employer. I am motivated to see our community thrive and as a positive thinking individual with a strong belief in Honesty, Integrity and Transparency, I will ensure I listen to you. It's time for a council that stops making excuses and gets on with the job of making our region great. It's time for fresh faces in the council who are not only willing to listen but are also not frightened to take a firm stand on what is right. It's time for a change. That's why am I running in this election and I hope you will give me your vote on March 28th and help me stand loud and tall for you. YOUR VOTE, YOUR VOICE

20.01.2022 Business ethics with an open doors approach. It would be my honour to serve and stand for you. YOUR VOTE YOUR VOICE

18.01.2022 Beautiful afternoon at the Dagun Growers Markets. A proud community and so they should be. I will be back

16.01.2022 Looking forward to meeting new faces at this important event tomorrow night.

15.01.2022 Hot topic....Will you be keeping your job if elected as Councillor? Being a councillor is a serious commitment and I intend to give 100% to council duties. But yes, you will still find me providing a full driveway service at my business Gympie West Store & Service Station- just not as often as I do now. This is how I network with other businesses and the community. It provides a frontage to my constituents and allows a finger on the pulse of the concerns and feelings of the region. I can not and will not hide behind closed doors. A vote for my open approach is a win for all.

15.01.2022 Thank you to Gympie Printing and Cooloola Window Tinting for their outstanding work on my flyers, business cards and corflutes. #isupportlocal

14.01.2022 One area I feel very strongly about is the need to upgrade our local roads to meet the current traffic volumes. We see council approving new residential developments but then failing to invest in the roads to service those new homes. We all deserve to drive on safe roads. It’s a basic responsibility for council and one that needs to be taken seriously.

12.01.2022 Polling closes tomorrow night. Thank you in advance for all that have gotten behind me with their support. #vote1

11.01.2022 A well explained message from our mayor on the current situation.

09.01.2022 Good governance leads to better and more efficient decisions, helps local government meet its legislative responsibilities, and provides an ethical basis for decision making. People are more likely to have confidence in their local council if decisions are made in a transparent and accountable way. To bring back general meetings would be a step in the right direction.

07.01.2022 KEEP IT LOCAL!!! Council needs to invest more into it’s regions businesses for labour, supply and materials. As we all know, we keep seeing outside businesses winning many contracts therefore stalling our local economy. As a retail shop owner, we see first-hand the strain in our economy where the consumers are timid and cautious with how they spend their dollar. Our hard earned dollar needs to be reinvested back into our own industries. It’s self- supporting and sustainable economic growth that works.

06.01.2022 Prepoll voting??? Vote 1 Shane Waldock Feel free to grab a pamphlet at my stand.

02.01.2022 Today is the start of corflute sign advertising. Roped my wife and brother into some hands on labour to spread the word of my nomination. A huge and loving shout out to those who gracefully accepted my mug out front of their properties, and thank you all for the ongoing support. The challenge ahead has well and truly been accepted.

02.01.2022 I’m fed up seeing good businesses pack up and leave our region in search of a council who is willing to help their business succeed. The excuses made by council for its excessive fees and the never-ending paper trail is somewhat out of control. This issue is killing the optimism of local businesses. It’s time council starts showing honesty, integrity and transparency instead of behind closed doors approach.

01.01.2022 One of the strengths earnt in my military career was to stand up for what’s right. It takes guts and determination to stand up to the darkness of dictatorship. My commitment is to pursue the neglect of the past practices in local government and include more of the community in taking a strong intimidating stand giving no apologies nor any regrets.

01.01.2022 How good is it to see big business (Laminex)investing in our region. This is what we need to encourage to see prosperity. What’s your opinion???

01.01.2022 Allow me to share my side of the story on the subject of a warm water (hydrotherapy) pool. Dear Derek and committee of the Gympie Hydrotherapy Group Inc. Thank you for bringing the Otium report to my attention and I have taken the time to review some of its contents and recommendations. Where possible I have tried to draw reference in my response to each of your questions: 1. Do you support the Otium analysis that there is a need for a warm water program pool at the Gympie Aq...Continue reading
