03.01.2022 REAL ESTATE MYTHS BUSTED! We’ve all heard the phrase I’m not getting involved in a Dutch Auction! But what exactly does it mean? Wiki describes it as.. an auction in which the auctioneer begins with a high asking price, and lowers it until some participant accepts the price, or it reaches a predetermined reserve price. This type of auction is good for auctioning goods quickly, since a sale never requires more than one bid. A Dutch auction initially offers an item at a p...rice in excess of the amount the seller expects to receive. The price lowers in steps until a bidder accepts the current price. And where did it all start? It's the early 1600's in Holland, and the tulip bulb has recently been introduced to the country by traders from the Ottoman empire. The flower is unique and unlike any other flower in Europe at the time, instant demand occurred in the tulip market, However, the botanical limitations of the tulip serve to constrain the supply curve. It takes 7-12 years to grow a tulip from a seed to its tradeable asset, the bulb which led to Tulip Mania. The solution, of course, was a Dutch Auction! So there you have it, the next time you hear this commonly misused phrase you can share this fun little story or just smile to yourself think of tulips and be happy we can buy them anytime anywhere and relatively cheaply! #dutchauction #shanebanfieldadvocate #buyright #infolioproperty
