25.01.2022 5 months in the planning, curating photographs that support the story I want to tell, liaising with designers, choosing quality paper and now it's here.

25.01.2022 { Trivia Time } Did you know that honey is the only natural food that is made without destroying any kind of life. I bet at least one of you is thinking that milk also might fit into this category. You'd be wrong. An animal, such as a goat or a cow, has to eat grass to produce milk and grass is living. Now that's interesting.

23.01.2022 { Trivia Time } Australian Megafauna are defined as animals whose body weight exceeded 45 kg. Before the arrival of humans, Australia was home to megafauna such as the three metre tall kangaroo, a seven metre long goannas, ducks the size of horses, and a marsupial lion the size of a leopard. The most interesting one though, was a species of Echidna the size of a sheep. There are many, many more examples. Now that's interesting.

21.01.2022 Good morning. This is a quick note to let you know that I'll be taking a few steps back from the photography business for a while. We're launching a new venture and I want to get back to just taking photos for fun and the occasional market. Thank you for being part of our journey. Our new venture is targeted at helping small businesses. If you own a small business and want to save time and increase revenue, check us out at https://atomicautomation.com.au/ Take care.

20.01.2022 { Trivia Time } Australia has participated in a few wars, police actions and peace keeping roles around the world. Probably the most bizarre though is the great emu war of 1932. Emus migrate from the coastal regions to inland regions each year for breeding. However, an estimated 20,000 emus had the idea that the freshly cultivated farmland in Campion, Wetern Australia was a better place. Destroying crops and fences, the locals approached the government who, in turn, sent soldiers with machine guns to reduce the emu population. How did the army go? They lost. Estimates emu losses are between 50 and 500. No losses on our side were reported. Not that's interesting.

16.01.2022 { Update } Hi. I hope you're enjoying your Sunday. Do you understand how your camera works? Do you take nice photographs but just want to take them to the next level? Would you like to learn more about composing a photograph? If you said yes to these then you may be interested in a new course I have released. 12.01.2022 { Trivia Time } Most of you know that in Australia, we have mountains. They're not particularly big compared to others in the world but they're ours. Did you also know that in these mountains in an average year, more snow falls in Australia than in Switzerland. The reason is to do with the location of the mountains. Switzerland is a land locked country so the air is dryer. Our mountains are closer to the coast so the air holds more moisture. More moisture and cold conditions means more snow. Now that's interesting.

09.01.2022 { Friday Fotographer } Do you know what an environmental portrait is? It's a photo of a person where the location the image was captured tells just as much of a story about the subject as anything else. Think of a nice photo of a person taken in their workplace. It's a genre I have an interest in and should explore. Anyway, Alecsandra Dragoi is one such photographer. I really like looking at his work for the reasons I like environmental portraiture. What intrigues me the most about his style is looking how the subject is lit. Obviously carefully done to add to the story. You can see his work on his website. I'd love to know what you think as well. Leave a comment. Enjoy your day.

08.01.2022 Mine was an Austin Cambridge A60 (similar to the one in the photo). Painted bright yellow with a white roof. Awesome beast.

08.01.2022 { Friday Fotographer } I really enjoy photographing wildlife. Not the quick snap but a photograph that shows the animal doing what it does. Showing an insight into its behaviour. The other thing I like about photographing wildlife is the challenge. Few wild animals let you get close or will stay still long enough to get a few frames off. It's for this reason I really enjoy looking at the work of other wildlife photographers. Today I'd like to tell you a little about Carl Bovi...s. Carl is a UK based nature photographer. I really his work for the simplicity of the compositions, the personality you can see in some of the birds and especially the photos where the bird is actually doing more than standing on a twig. The best place to see his work is on his Instagram feed. I'd love to hear your thoughts on his photographs. Leave a comment below. Enjoy your day.

07.01.2022 A quick edit from my photos last night. Would you like to join me on one of my photo trips? Let me know in the comments below.

05.01.2022 { Friday Fotographer } Some people take photography waaaay too seriously. Others enjoy the creativity as well as the experience of making photos. I love looking at quirky images. Things that don't fit the mould. And so I'd like you to look at the photographs of Darryll Jones. Jones describes himself as a dude photographing a little plastic dude and painting with his coffee instead of drinking it. I've seen lots of photos featuring Lego figures, little cars, the Amazon box cha...racter but I like Jones' work because he's able to give his character, Eric, some personality. When you look at the photos you'd be forgiven for thinking it's a human in a costume. Check out the website or Jones' Instagram feed for more. I'd love to know what you think of this style of photography. Let me know by leaving a comment. https://www.instagram.com/darrylljones/ See more

05.01.2022 { Friday Fotographer } If there's one group of photographer's whose work I enjoy looking at it would be the younger group. They bring a different and imaginitive way of seeing things that you just don't get with older people. Well, most older people. At just 22 years of age, Berta Vicente is a Barcelona based creative who specializes creating portraits of people that seem to create emotions towards the subject of the photograph. At least that's what I feel when I look at her work. Visit her website to see more. Enjoy your day.

02.01.2022 Have you heard or read a photographic term and have no idea what it meant? I have put together a glossary of photographic terms that should clear things up. https://phocus.link/glossary
