24.01.2022 Good afternoon families, As we prepare to return to training in Term 3, we are busy putting the final steps in place to adhere to the new laws as well as to our instructors' and our students' and their families' health and safety. Below is our Covid-19 Safety plan which we will have to adhere to, no matter what. Any breach of this plan may affect how we train in the future.... COVID-19 SAFETY PLAN General Health & Hygiene If a student or family member is unwell or has tested positive, they must stay home and tell their instructor as soon as possible. If an instructor or student tests positive, we will stop classes immediately and let families know. For contact tracing, records will be kept of date, name and mobile number of all students attending classes. Students’ temperature will be taken before being allowed to enter the dojo and train. Hands must be washed with soap or hand sanitiser used before entering the dojo. Instructors/club cleaners will wipe down all surfaces, including floors, with disinfectant before and after each class. They will wear gloves and wash hands with soap before and after. All students must bring their own water bottle. Students Students must arrive dressed ready to train and avoid using change rooms if possible. Social distancing will be maintained at all times. Non-contact training only will be taught. Students must not hug, hi-five, or engage in any other form of contact. Venue A maximum of 20 students plus instructors per class is permitted. Class start times will be adjusted to accommodate a 5-10-minute changeover period in order to avoid crowding during crossover times. Gatherings of parents or students outside the premises during drop off and pick up are not permitted. The 1.5 metre social distancing rules must be observed. Entry into the venue will only be permitted 5-10 minutes prior to class. Restrooms are only available to teachers and students and the number of people permitted at any one time must adhere to the 1.5 metre social distancing rule. All students and parents must leave the premises immediately upon class finishing time.

20.01.2022 Kung Fu Tuesdays Post #36 ‘The Wing Chun Straight Punch’ (Part 3): The straight punch should be able to be delivered at a moment’s notice and at any range ...(again, do not start it from the waist) and should end with a snap. It should start off with speed, but not force; concentrate all of your energy at the point of impact. Do not use only arm power in striking, but strike with correct timing, footwork, waist motion and mental aiming! When stepping forward to hit, do not let your foot land first; let everything be behind the striking hand. Do not drop the other hand when striking; keep it below the elbow for protection. Relaxation is essential for faster and more powerful punching. Let your straight punch shoot out loosely and easily; do not tighten up or clench the fist of your punching hand until the moment of impact. All punches should end with a snap several inches behind the target. Thus you punch through the opponent rather than at him. See more

16.01.2022 Proof that what we teach our students hasn't changed too much in the last few centuries.

14.01.2022 Good afternoon families, Due to the storms forecast to hit us, a few families have notified me that they wouldn’t be attending tonight’s class. As such I feel it is better to cancel the class and keep everyone home, safe and dry. See you all Thursday or next week.

13.01.2022 Hi all, A quick reminder that next Tuesday will be our last class for the year, and the last class in the current dojo. As of next year we will be in the old boxing room next to the PCYC reception which overlooks the athletics field. That room is bigger, brighter, and better suited to our needs, and I look forward to training the students in there.... We will also have the opportunity to train Monday to Thursday if we get enough students happy to train on those extra nights. I will confirm everything in mid to late January, as the time gets closer. See more

10.01.2022 Good morning families, After much consideration and discussion with families, next week will see Tuesday the 24th November as our last class for the year. It seems most kids are finishing school early this term and a lot of people are caught up with end of year functions, etc. This means we only have 3 lessons left this year, so don't miss out.

02.01.2022 Welcome to 2021! Our classes start next Tuesday (2nd February) at 5:30pm in the new dojo near reception. If you are unsure of the area in question, ask reception when you arrive and they will direct you.
