22.01.2022 If you are in the construction industry, it is common for retention to be withheld from payments. But why? Retention is held by the head contractor until the end of the project. There is normally a set timeframe for the release of the retention. For example a portion released on handover and the balanced released at a set time in the future eg 12 months from completion. Retention is withheld to ensure that the contract has completed all works to a satisfactory level. If t...here are any problems, ie defects or delays, these can be rectified. If you have had retention withheld, it should have been in the agreement with the Head Contractor. Make sure that you have a diary note when the balance is due to be paid out so that you get your money when it is due. By using a Bookkeeper, we are able to work with your business to ensure that you receive your retention when due.

17.01.2022 Today is World Mental Health Day. As a bookkeeper we work closely with a lot of tradespeople. During COVID we have seen how tough this has been for everyone. This is a old article but articulates perfectly what Tradies go through. If you get a tradie out, be nice to them and pay their bills. They have families and businesses to run. Jinavo Plumbing & Drainage Pty Ltd.

17.01.2022 This is me on the weekend. I love to cook and experiment with making bread. This is this weekends creation. Got voted very yummy.

16.01.2022 So proud when my client's leave reviews like this. How can we help your business?

16.01.2022 A BAS Agent is a Bookkeeper or Accountant who is registered with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB). This allows them to make decisions within your accounting software about GST. This includes working out if a transaction has GST on it and enters it into the software correctly. A BAS agent can also lodge your BAS and IAS. They would have their own software to do this and would not be using a clients log in. A BAS Agent can assist with setting up Single Touch Payroll (STP) ...when you start off a new business and provide payroll services. BAS Agents can talk to the ATO on your behalf and assist you with Jobkeeper applications. More information about the services a BAS Agent can offer can be found at https://www.tpb.gov.au/bas-services #basagent #bookkeeper #bookkeeping #xero #myob #payroll #smallbusinessmelbourne #smallbusinessmelbournecbd #melbourneplumber #melbournetradies #electriciansmelbourne

15.01.2022 What is a Business Tool? It is a software that helps you run your business more efficiently. Software tools that we recommend are Xero, MYOB, QBO Add on solutions? Sounds strange but as accounting software can not do everything for everyone, they allow for other software to talk to the accounting software to improve your processes.... Some of the solutions that our clients use are: Hubdocs and ReceiptBank - to save copies of their invoices and receipts instead of trying to store paper copies Vend, Dear TradeGecko and Shopify these are inventory programs that allow clients to keep an eye on stock levels and see what needs to be replenished. These integrate with Xero and QBO to allow for your end of month reports to be completed. ServiceM8 this is an all in one tool for Tradies to be able to schedule the work, invoice clients at the time and take payments so the money is in bank when a job is finished. This integrates with Xero, MYOB and QBO to allow for the invoices to be sent through and end of month reporting is a breeze. No double entry of invoice or forgetting to bill a client. Tsheets and Deputy These are timekeeping apps that allow you to easily track your staff hours and location so that payday is less manual paperwork. Stripe, Square and Tyro examples of payment apps that allow your customers to pay immediately and not having to processes via an eft. If you would like to find out how any of the above solutions can help your business contact us at [email protected] #myob #xero #tsheets #deputy #hubdocs #receiptbank #servicem8 #vend #dear #tradegecko #stripe #square #smallbusinessaustralia #smallbusinessmelbourne #smallbusinessmelbournecbd #smallbusinessmelbournewest #tradiesofmelbourne #melbournetradies #plumbersmelbourne #bookkeeping

15.01.2022 Would you like your invoices paid on time? When you send out an invoice you can set up a linked payment service so that your customers can pay by debit/credit card. Having a PAY NOW button would get a customers to action this as they can quickly click on the link, add their card details, and all paid.... Within Xero you can set up your recurring invoices so that the customers can enter their card details for quick payment. This would then fully automate the invoice payment processing. Time saving for everyone.

10.01.2022 What is the difference between a Bookkeeper and a Bookkeeper? Looks the same? A person can call themselves a Bookkeeper because they process information into an accounting software. A Bookkeeper who has a qualification which could be a Cert IV Bookkeeping, has spent time studying to find out the best processes to help your business. ... A Bookkeeper who is a BAS Agent has taken the next step. They have completed specific units to become a BAS Agent, have been registered with the Tax Practitioners Board, have insurance for the work to be completed. Most are also members of an Association where they have support of resources to help clients. Which Bookkeeper will you choose to help your business? https://www.shapedbusiness.com.au//important-questions-to/ #xero #bookkeeping #smallbusinessowner #smallbusinessmelbourne #smallbusinessmelbournecbd #smallbusinessmelbournewest #myob #electriciansmelbourne #tradiesmelbourne #tradiesofmelbourne #plumbersmelbourne #basagent #smallbusinessaustralia

07.01.2022 As a Bookkeeper I love that I can work anywhere, as long as I have wifi. With the stage 4 lock down my view is only of the backyard as I work from home. Looking forward to everyone doing the right thing so we can conquer this. Stay safe.

05.01.2022 Are you a business in Victoria that is in Stage 4 Lockdown. Are you eligible for State Government Grants? Have a look at this. https://www.business.vic.gov.au///business-support-package

04.01.2022 I get asked by clients if they should have a savings account. This is highly recommended. If you have staff and are withholding PAYG or need to pay super we get the clients to move this to the savings account each pay run. As the money is put aside when it comes to having to remit the money to the ATO or the Super funds, it is there ready to go.

04.01.2022 6 years ago I restarted my Bookkeeping business. It was under Choice Bookkeeping Services. We grew and became Shaped Business Services. I though this cover really suits how we are all working at the moment. Isolated on an island, but still celebrating the small wins.

03.01.2022 Hi Roslyn (aka the best bookkeeper in town) Wishing you very Happy Birthday

02.01.2022 What did you do with all of the receipts from last financial year? Are they in a shoe box or plastic bag? At Shaped we help you organise your paperwork so that it can be stored electonrically, the figures are entered onto an accounting software such as #Xero. Easy to find receipts!

02.01.2022 How do you switch off? With all of this uncertainty around us at the moment, I rely on the team at F45 for their online sessions. This is how I switch off. Remember to take some time out for you and look after your health.

02.01.2022 This week is Global Bookkeeping Week. It is a celebration to all bookkeepers for the had work we do and for all of our wonderful clients who listen and learn from us.

01.01.2022 Do you send the same invoice to clients regularly? How much time do you spend issuing the invoices? Do you know that most programs allow you to set up regular invoices for your customers. You can have set up the basic information, and possible extra that may be charged. We recommend Xero as you can set up recurring invoices. You have the option to have these emailed out when due, or save them to drafts for a quick review, additional information and then sending out.... A great example of this, was a client who issues subscription invoices to customers spent a whole day copying the invoices from the last month, reviewing and then issuing to the customers. They are using Xero. I then set up all of the invoices as recurring. We set up the fields so that the month of the invoice automatically populated on the invoice. The invoices are saved in drafts for issuing on 15th and last day of the month. This helps cashflow. My client reviews the invoices, approves and sends. Total time now monthly less than 1 hour. #Xero #MYOB #bookkeeper #bookkeeping #BASagent
