25.01.2022 Set up almost done, 1km timing chip collection ready to go!

25.01.2022 Hi Swimmers, The Shark Island Swim Challange Website is now live and taking registrations for the 1km Pulse Cronulla Beach Fun Swim and ACE Gutters Cronulla Shark Island 2.3km swim, merchandise can also be pre ordered as you move through the checkout. This year we have some exiting news for entrants who want to go 'Head to Head' with the best swimmers in the 2.3km race, we have introduced an 'ELITE' wave, please see website for details and time criteria. (You will be contacte...d prior to the race for proof of previous swims and times) If you enter the 'ELITE' group you will not be eligable to win your age group as well. We have also reworked our age catogories for the ACE Gutters Cronulla Shark Island 2.3km Swim and offer the following year groups. 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74 and 75 and over. Prizes will be awarded for the 1st Male and Female in each catogory. The 1km swim remains as always, prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Male and Female over the line. As we move through COVED and its associated laws we unfortunatly have to have a cap of 400 swimmers per race, so it is first in, best dressed. There will be 'NO LATE REGISTRATIONS ON THE DAY' Finally, here is some Arial drone fottage of the 'EPIC' Shark Island Swim Challange held on 2-2-2020. 24.01.2022 Hi swimmers, what a day, and what an 'EPIC' Cronulla SLSC Ocean Swim Challange. We had a total of 971 swimmers compete in the 1 and 2.3km swims, to every one, thank you and congratulations on your efforts, well done. 15.01.2022 SAVE THE DATE - SUNDAY 7th FEBRUARY 2021 Hi Swimmers, what a year 2020 has been so far, we sincerely hope everyone has managed to get through as best they can and can see some light at the end of the tunnel. Some great news for Cronulla SLSC and the 'EPIC' Shark Island Swim. We can confirm the swim will go ahead on Sunday the 7th of February 2021. While we cannot confirm exact specifics and numbers at this stage we will be endeavoring to hold the 1km and 2.3km swims on the da...y, numbers will be limited and there will be no late registrations on the day. The past 5 months have see us implement a range of measures to conform with the new COVID laws and will allow us to guarantee the safe running of the events for all swimmers and volunteers involved. At this stage 'On-Line Registrations' are 'NOT OPEN' but we hope in the next few weeks will will be able to confirm exact numbers for both races. Registrations will be a first in - first served basis, i.e. once the cut-off number has been reached, there will be no further registrations allowed. We will make sure we keep everyone up to date as time goes by. You will also need to download the 'Service NSW' app before the day as we will have a swim specific QR code for fast check in and contact tracing. Thank you for your support in previous years events. 08.01.2022 Hi Swimmers, WOW, what an incredible response to our swim, as of 4pm this afternoon we’ve had over 700 online registrations over the 1 and 2.3km swims. We will have late registrations open from 8 till 10 am Sunday morning. The weather report for race day is 27 to 30 degrees, 10 to 15 knot S to SE breeze, moderate swell falling to slight as the morning goes on, water temp around 23, perfect conditions for a swim! Thanks to all our sponsors and especially Eyeline for their abso...lutely amazing assistance with caps and gear for our swim, they have been with us for many years and will be here for many many more. 07.01.2022 Hi swimmers, The 2.3km ‘EPIC’ ACE Gutters Shark Island Swim has been ‘SOLD OUT’, thank you to all that have entered and put your faith in our SLSC and swim, we are truly humbled by the interest in this year’s event and promise, weather and Neptune permitting, to put on a ‘Day and Swim to Remember’. There are still around 100 spots available in our 1km PULSE Property Beach Fun Swim, and while it’s not as challenging as the 2.3km, it’s still a great swim. If you’re thinking of ...entering please do so ASAP as this is sure to sell out prior to Saturday’s 4pm cut off. Thank you once again for your support, Cronulla SLSC and the SIS Committee.

05.01.2022 Hi swimmers, firstly, ‘Thank You’ for the amazing amount of support we have received in online swim registrations, both swims are filling up fast! We have some great news, the past few weeks have seen many discussions with the Sutherland Shire Council Lifeguards and COVID risk assessment teams and they have allowed us to increase the number of swimmers for the ACE Gutters 2.3km race to 550 total, the PULSE 1km swim remains capped at 400. So if you’re thinking of entering eith...er one of the swims, please do so quickly, once we reach our cap of 550 we will be closing the online registration for the 2.3km event. There are still around 180 spots left for the PULSE 1km event but we suspect these will fill quickly. There have also been some important updates to times on the SIS website, please take a couple of moments to have a look and ensure you leave plenty of time on the morning for timing band collection etc. Thank you, Cronulla SLSC and the SIS Committee. www.sharkislandswim.com.au
