25.01.2022 You can’t pour from an empty cup, so on this grey day I thought a lil bit of self-care was in order. Starting with Yoga on the beach with the Miami crew, followed by a green goddess smoothie, a charcoal face mask and a Shakti Mat session. All primed now for a blissful afternoon! Over these last few weeks of Iso what’s continuously helped me has been taking that moment to reconnect to nature. Grounding my feet into the earth, lying in our favoured Savasana posture and gazing up at the sky, feeling the sensations of the elements on my skin or listening in to the sounds of nature (in particular that amazing bird song). ... 13.01.2022 THANK YOU FOR YOUR DONATION!!! Some of you may remember that earlier this year we began a Pay It Forward campaign where part of the funds from our Online Yoga classes were to be donated. Today i'm happy to announce that $500 has now been donated to a foundation supporting those that have fallen victim to modern slavery or human trafficking within Australia.... 10.01.2022 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY (4 June 2019 4 June 2020) 1 year on the Oz mat - 141 Classes taught - 215 practitioners met! Since arriving in Queensland over 1 year ago I have loved practicing with you all and send a HUGE thank you for your support both in our face to face classes but then also as we transitioned into our new way of practicing online. A few special shout outs!... Since 4 June 2019 - Fran for attending 62 classes AND NEVER missing a Tuesday AM class WOOHOO GO YOU and enjoy your FREE month of June classes!!! - HUGE thank you to Lynnii Challen and the team at Ifeelgood247 where before covid was home to the weekly classes. I’m so grateful for everything and wish you all the very best as you reopen! - Erica - highest attending ifeelgoodie - 57 classes. - Eve - highest attending online practitioner (despite the classes being late as she’s on New Zealand time). - The Williams family for dedicating their Tuesday and Thursday mornings to the weekly online practice - The Moore family for amusing us all with their online Yoga in Pyjamas Practice. - Lastly for all those that have shared their celebrations whether it be now reaching their toes in their forward folds or having their heels reach the ground in their Downward Dog series or just in general feeling so much better in body and mind!!!! 02.01.2022 Let the simplicity of Savasana help unravel your complexities Wee Tex enjoying Savasana with his human in this morning’s 6am Yoga class! Savasana (Corpse posture) can bring total relaxation and the great thing is you can treat yourself to it anytime.... In Savasana we work to completely neutralise the body so it can come into a state of relaxation. Here we no longer think of our body and instead bring our focus and attention to our breath, which with practice, can start a wonderful journey of bringing our mind into a state of calm. Quiet the body by putting your limbs into place where they can fully release. Maybe try rolling the legs turned out or adding a support under the backs of the knees or the curve of the neck. Find whatever you need to do for your body completely to let go and relax down into what is supporting it. Next it’s good to practice calming the senses. Relax the tongue, let the eyes sink back, relax the nose, release any need to listen in to your surrounds, release the skin of the forehead and in between the eyebrows, then start your body scan allowing all parts of your body to relax from the tip of the head, to the tips of the fingers, down to the tips of the toes. Focus on some deep breathing, whatever this is currently for you, and stay in Savasana for at least 5 minutes. To exit, roll gently onto one side, preferably the right. Take 2 or 3 breaths here. Then pressing your hands against the floor, lift your torso, raising your head slowly last. Can assist to: Calm the mind and can help relieve stress, Relax the body, Reduce headache, fatigue, and insomnia, Help to lower blood pressure! Enjoy. Namaste!
