23.01.2022 I did a meditation the other day that had a space to list all things you love. I wanted to share mine with you. Sweet Earl Grey Tea Airconditioning on a hot day A kitten asleep and purring on my chest... The weight of my feather doona at the end of a long day Long chats with friends The sound of my kids intently discussing lego Clean feet Creamy vanilla icecream Floating in the float tank The sweet release of my spine cracking Walking barefoot on clean floors Someone else cleaning my house A child's face when the learn with enthusiasm Long nails (this has been a novelty for someone with a zinc deficiency) A good beef burger with melty cheese and mustard Long held restorative yoga Clean sheets The smell of fresh Jasmine Reading poetry with my boys What about you? What are things that you love the smell, taste, feel or sensations of? Sometimes we forget to treasure these things, to really savior those things that feed us and bring us joy. Find them, celebrate them and indulge in them every day
22.01.2022 I have heard from a lot of people recently that they feel overwhelmed with the whole Christmas season. It can be a time when we are inundated with obligations, consumerism and consumption. But it doesn't have to be that way, you have a choice about what this end of year time is for you! It's ok to let other people down, what is more important is not letting yourself down.... People will react in whatever way serves them right now and I try to choose to think of that as their 'interesting point of view'. How others perceive things is not a fact or a truth, it is purely their point of view (also how you perceive things, but that is a whole other post!). So, this holiday season give yourself permission to do what serves you best. If that is racing around and being a social butterfly then by all means do it! If it is having takeaway and watching Netflix all day then that is also ok! It can be easy to get sucked in to all the posts of people celebrating with family, going to a bazillion Christmas events and stacking up a heap of gifts under the tree. But if this ain't your thing know that you can make a different choice. We have chosen to just attend one Christmas event this year (our local street party that the kids love), limit our gifts (I purchased everything we need online in one sitting) and on Christmas Day we are taking ourselves off to the Zoo to wander around and have a simple picnic lunch. You have permission to make the choice that serves you!
18.01.2022 Do you take regular movement breaks during your work day? If the answer is no, I completely understand. It can seem easier to just power through and keep going with the momentum. But movement breaks like getting up for a walk or a stretch can drastically improve our productivity.... I recently had some spots removed and had to have 5 different areas sutured. It really restricted my movement ability and I felt so crappy the whole time because those daily breaks I used to take weren't possible. If you are stuck at your desk and trying to power through, here is your reminder: get up and move for a minute and then set your timer to do it again in 30 minutes. Try this for a few days and see if you feel better for it. #productivity #FunctionalMovement #PerthSmallBusiness
13.01.2022 Habits are important but they also need to be flexible! We had a big day out at the zoo yesterday and whilst my morning routine is super important to me but I am allowed myself a slow start to the day and that is absolutely ok. It doesn't negate all the work I am doing to move forward in my life but having times when you show yourself self compassion and allow things to develop more slowly is incredibly valuable.... As I sat not doing all the things I usually put on my must do list in the morning my brain decompressed and I was able to add little notes in my notebook about the things that may be helpful to me later in the day to get done. Also to remove some of the brain clutter that would otherwise have overwhelmed me. It doesn't mean that the routines I have made a priority for myself in 2021 are forgotten they are just on hold till a bit later when my brain and body have more ability to do them in a more productive way. Now as I sit down to do some office work I am amazed at what I managed to get done despite my slower start, I was probably more productive rather than less by listening to myself and being active in a way that serves me best. Do you try to just push through or do you listen to yourself and tailor your level of activity to suit?
10.01.2022 If you say yes to the wrong things you won’t have space for the right things. This message keeps coming up for me over the last few weeks. I’ve had conversations where it has come up with several different people. As I work through my beautiful Gratitude journal I found this quote!... It’s a big theme for me as we start 2021 and one I find both challenging and helpful. I have a tendency to do things because I can but I am learning to prioritise, listen to my gut and say no more often. This means that when the things that really speak to me come up I have the space to say yes more easily.
07.01.2022 Did you know the Facebook app has lots of awesome tools for managing the groups you are in? Finally you can leave or unfollow groups with one click rather than having to click into each individual group and then navigate to the settings. This is a total game changer for me, hope it helps you too!
