23.01.2022 My day in a nutshell - Lunch by the Loddon - we grabbed some awesome pies from the Bridgewater Bakehouse - A Cauliflower Cheese Pie for me and Satay Beef for the better half. I walked it off with a stroll by the river but the breeze got the better of me and I headed home to put the kettle on - for an aftenoon treat I savoured a small square of Bendigo's very own Peanut Brittle, that stuff is to die for. I took a deter on the way home because the countryside is so pretty ...at the moment with canola crops in flower as far as your eye can see. #visitloddonvalley #loddonvalley #bridgewaterbakehouse #bridgewateronloddon #pie #bakery #loddonriver

21.01.2022 Experienced the delights of Daylesford with my son by taking in brunch at Hotel Frangos. The hotel's slightly gothic facade draws you in, which is why we chose this venue from the many cafes and dining spots in town. It was a rainy day, so we dined inside overlooking the vine covered courtyard.... Foodwise, Frangos offers a small but sophisticated brunch menu ( lunch and dinner is more extensive) with all the regular faves, breaky burgers, corn and zucchini fritters, smashed avo, eggs benny, etc etc. The coffee is excellent and Frango's has a great atmosphere which made our short trip to Daylesford that extra bit special. An hour after left Daylesford it snowed!

20.01.2022 The Italian festival of Ferragosto was celebrated in my old home town of Sydney today. This year some of the celebration went online which was great because I could join in the fun from my new home in central Vic. I cooked two Italian dishes, Prawns Linguine and Pork Milanese, via a cook along with Italian foodie, Vincenzo's Plate - I even stepped up and made my own pasta.... Delicious Italian home cooking at it's best. #ferragostaathome #ferragosto

11.01.2022 Lamb Souvlaki and a coffee at the hip country cafe, 24 Karat Cafe Wedderburn. If it wasn't raining I would have made the most of the gorgeous courtyard. Love all the splashes of colour and country themed art scattered throughout the venue. 10.01.2022 A big afternoon in the kitchen for BBQ night, and this was just part of the spread! Classic home made salads - Creamy Potato and Pumpkin Feta and Walnut. Souvlaki Chicken wings from Steel's Butchers Wedderburn and a decadent flourless chocolate cake dripping in ganache.

09.01.2022 I discovered Adam and Eve tucked away in the industrial precinct of Golden Square in Bendigo. The plant based menu has so much to offer that I found it hard to choose from the rainbow of mouth watering plant based dishes listed on the menu. I finally settled on the halloumi jacket - a roasted sweet potato with vegan halloumi, kale pesto, coconut bacon and creamy tangy slaw. Also on the table, loaded fries and a chilled, creamy, peanut butter cup smoothie. Adam and Eve serve ...an incredible cup of Code Black Coffee - my Almond Latte was a 10 out of 10! You don't have to be vegan to enjoy this place, there is something here for everyone who loves a healthy bright menu.

08.01.2022 I was impressed to find great coffee at a hip hole in the wall style cafe venue in Wedderburn . This time it was just a quick stop for a takeaway coffee and a couple of their house made shortbreads for something sweet after dinner but 24 Karat Cafe is another venue I would love to revisit for a bigger experience when rona restrictions ease.

Tonight we amped up roast veggies with middle eastern flavours and finished the plate with a tahini dressing Recipe inspo from Salad for all Seasons - the latest cookbook from Thermobexta. 02.01.2022 Excited to be enjoying eased restrictions in Regional Victoria which means we can finally get out and about and enjoy all the gems this area has to offer. Yesterday my hubby and I both had a day off so we wandered through the picturesque town of Pyramid Hill, and while we were there, grabbed some healthy salad rolls and coffee from Coffee Bank Pyramid Hill We ate our lunch in the park, where the local (thankfully) friendly magpies asked to join us for a bite to eat. ... My crispy bread roll was jam packed with tender chicken and salady goodness, this was a real hunger buster, and The Coffee Bank's coffee has great flavour. The display of retro kitchenalia in the cafe window sets the atmosphere for this part of the region which has so much historical architecture to appreciate. We climbed "Pyramid Hill"(which the town is named after) on a previous visit, a short walk up the rocky hill is a "must do" for amazing views across the countryside. #pyramidhill #coffeebank #coffeebankpyramidhill #visitloddonvalley Visit Loddon Valley
