25.01.2022 We successfully delivered a beautiful custom 3.2m Macracarpa patio table along with two Macracarpa slab & log post seats to its new owner. Inset to the centre of the table is a 1.5m polished stainless steel trough with drain & plug that has a multipurpose function including: ice bucket & esky for drinks or food, utensil & condiment compartment during BBQs or functions, or a pot plant holder to add vibrant colour to a meal seating. For durability we gave the table & seats a ...satin marine finish that sets off the timber features of the thick top. We very pleased to have a happy customer with a stunning table. We are currently in construct of another 2.8m Macracarpa table: Can be constructed with or without trough insert & final finish can be requested. If you are interested please let us know.

21.01.2022 After more than a year in development, we are excited to release our unique range of handcrafted chopsticks. The Chopsticks are crafted from rarely used Tasmanian Understorey timbers sourced at Sharpes Siding. These understorey trees were derived from fuel-reduction activities at the Siding associated with the terrible 2019 Tasmanian Bush Fire season. Timbers used for our 2020 Chopstick range include Manuka, Cheesewood and Paperbark with these contrasting understory timbers p...resenting the rich burnt orange-red of Manuka, the silky white of Cheesewood to the deep red-brown of Paperbark. Each unique chopstick is carefully matched to its pair from the same piece of timber. Chopsticks are available in either 5 mm or 2 mm points and presented as two nested sets in a beautiful box designed by CreativeLee. An ideal all occasion gift available at Waterfalls Cafe & Gallery, Mt Field National Park or contact us for details. #TasmanianChopsticks #Manuka #ManukaChopsticks

12.01.2022 Our summer kiln load is on its way featuring some lovely timbers milled at the Siding, including two packs of a very special Regnan located at Lat 42o-42-42 on the property. The timbers will sit in our off grid solar kiln for the rest of summer (late Feb ETA) with the short turnaround due to long summer days & high solar input. This 2020 summer kiln load features a beautiful collection of furniture-grade mixed Tassie timbers including Wattle, Blackwood, Stringy Bark & Reg...nan Tas-Oak all from the Siding property sourced from bush fire reduction activities and highly selective thinning of canopy trees. We have also included a pack of Florentine White Myrtle saved from chipping & Macrocarpa salvaged from the Tas Peninsular. The load is made up of 20 mm thick boards up to 200 mm wide & around 2.4 m long, but also includes a base layer of 7m long, 100x35 mm Regnan boards destined for lamination into 300x90 beams for our workshop & ancillary sales shed development. A selection of larger Regnan limb slabs & Macrocarpa slabs are also included in one pack. Let us know if you are interested in purchasing any of these wonderful timbers.

10.01.2022 Some old wooden crates from bygone times that we discovered in a shed the other day. Loved the Imperial sheep tongues box !!

08.01.2022 Our fourth kiln run is on its way !! It will sit in our off grid eco-solar kiln for approximately four months on 1/3 power due to reduced solar input from the short winter days. Our fourth load is focused on beautiful Tassie minor species including silver wattle, blackwood & stringy bark/ Tassie Oak re-growth trees (60-80 year-old) from the Sharpes Siding property, but also white myrtle recovered from the Florentine and locally salvaged Macracarpa.... We have focused on table-top to bench-top timber sizes with wet cut boards in the order of 215 mm wide, variable thickness between 25 mm to 35 mm, and a 2.4 metre pack length. The Kiln load has 6 pallet packs with one pack each for wattle, blackwood and gum, two white myrtle & one macracarpa pack. The Kiln load should be dry around October/November. Please let us know if you have any interest in purchasing some of these wonderful timbers.

07.01.2022 Some lovely Macrocarpa from a log that completely surprised us with its rich color and beautifully complex growth textures. We have slabbed it on the bandsaw mill to 30 mm boards around 2.4 m in length. Will be ideal as feature boards for furniture or craft items such as headboards, side tables, stands or coat rack boards. These Macrocarpa slabs are the final pieces going into our upcoming solar timber kiln (Load No.5) with a February E.T.A. Let us know if you have any interest in purchasing some of these amazing Macrocarpa slabs.
