23.01.2022 Yin & Yang Yin & Yang is first referenced in an ancient Chinese text around 700BC. According to this text, all phenomena is composed of two opposite, but mutually interconnected forces known as Yin & Yang. In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the concept of Yin and Yang serve as the foundation for understanding health, as well as diagnosing and treating illness. ... The dual relationship of Yin & Yang demonstrates that everything in the universe exists as connected and complementary, yet opposite elements. To understand the concepts of Yin & Yang it helps to know about the Four Aspects. The Four Aspects describe the relationship between Yin & Yang and that they are simultaneously: Opposites- A common Yin and Yang relationship is day and night. While opposites, they can only be understood as a relationship. For example, darkness is relative to Yin, while Yang is relative to light. The balance between the two is always shifting and progressing in a cyclical fashion. Interdependent- While opposite, Yin & Yang are interdependent. One cannot exist without the other. They are mutually dependent on each other. Everything that has Yin must have Yang, and vice versa. Mutually Transformative- Yin & Yang are constantly in a state of flux and influence each other. If one changes, the other follows. Nature, by definition, cannot be static. Just as a state of total Yin is reached, Yang begins to grow - eg. There is no day without night. Mutually Consuming- Yin & Yang are naturally balanced, but are continuously changing. The change is typically harmonious, but can become imbalanced. There are four states of imbalance and they are; - Deficiency of Yin - Deficiency of Yang - Excess of Yin - Excess of Yang Yin & Yang are in constant flux. When we talk about the balance of Yin and Yang in the body, we are talking about the balance between matter and chemistry, about the maintenance of homeostasis. If one becomes unbalanced in the body, an imbalance of health can occur. Optimal health is maintained by keeping both in perfect harmony. Illustration: Unknown

23.01.2022 Qi pronounced chi translates into English as energy. Qi governs all things in the universe. It is an ever-present force that is in a constant state of flow, circulating and permeating in and around you everywhere. ... Qi connects all living things, such as the human body, nature and the changing of the four seasons, the stars above, the Earth, and the Sun. In simple terms, Qi is the flow of energy. It is a natural, dynamic occurrence that feeds and creates life. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the concept of qi has two main branches. There is the physical or nourishing portion of qi that makes up the air, water, and food that we take in. The other branch of qi is more insubstantial. It is the vital fluids and the energy itself that flows through our bodies. Qi flows along the meridian points of the body and is the central foundation for all acupuncture treatments Image: Jen Stone #tcm #acupuncture #qi #health #wellbeing

22.01.2022 During your treatment, Shaun may use what is known in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) as Moxa or moxibustion. Moxibustion is a traditional technique that involves the burning of mugwort, a small, spongy herb, to facilitate healing. Moxibustion has been used throughout Asia for thousands of years. The purpose of moxibustion, as with most forms of traditional Chinese medicine, is to strengthen the blood, stimulate the flow of qi, and maintain general health.

13.01.2022 Auricular Acupuncture * The theory and use of auricular acupuncture can be tracked back to ancient China, however it was formally discovered and developed by a French Neurologist Dr. Paul Nogier. * Dr Nogier had a patient with sciatica that he was unable to relieve pain for. One day this patient returned to tell him the pain had been treated by a folk doctor that had stimulated a point in his ear. * Dr Nogier was intrigued by this and went on to do further research with ...his colleagues & students and later found a few other points which were also effective in treating different symptoms. * Dr Nogier soon published his research in a medical journal. In the article he stated that the whole ear was innervated by numerous cranial and spinal nerves, especially the vagus nerve and that the entire ear can be described as a Inverted Fetus. * Within the ear there are plenty of acupuncture points that represent specific areas and functions within the body. This creates a microsystem that reflects our health and that can be used as treatment. * Auricular acupuncture can be used as a treatment on its own or in addition to whole body acupuncture. Its recommended you leave the needles in your ears for 5-7 days after your appointment as they keep the points gently stimulated for the days after and help further benefit the overall treatment. 10.01.2022 The perfect hummus, paired with divine seasonal veges for a nutrient dense snack or delicious addition to your main... The chickpeas in hummus are an excellent source of leguminous protein. Though legumes do not contain a complete set of essential amino acids on their own, the deficit is made up when they are combined with whole grains such as quinoa or brown rice. The fats in hummus are a combination of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats, largely coming from the tahini... and olive oil. Both of these fats provide heart-healthy benefits. Consuming hummus along with veges and whole grains will also help to increase your fibre intake. Fibre helps you to feel fuller after eating. That feeling of satiety or satisfaction helps you to eat less throughout the day so you can maintain your current healthy weight or support weight loss, it's also amazing for our digestive system, helping to promote healthy and regular bowel motions. Enjoy!
