24.01.2022 Vermont Secondary College is getting a new gym! Following the announcement of $650 000 for planning. The Victorian Government is giving Vermont Secondary College a further $5.85 million for the construction of a new competition-grade gym! This is great news for the school but also for Victorian jobs.... This investment will help get people employed and stimulate our economic recovery.

24.01.2022 During last summer’s devastating bushfires, councils did amazing things to support their communities and keep people safe. Councils across Victoria have big responsibilities before, during and after emergencies. That’s why Budget 2020 included an extra $1 million for the Municipal Emergency Resourcing Program.... That means $5.6 million this year for councils to make sure they have the plans and programs in place to respond, if the worst happens. https://www.premier.vic.gov.au/helping-councils-keep-local-

23.01.2022 Putting young people’s mental health first We all know our mental health system is broken. As we recover from this pandemic, we can’t lose sight of what matters most the health and wellbeing of our families, friends and communities.... While the Royal Commission finishes its important work, we are getting on with fixing this broken system by investing in the much-needed foundation interim recommendations. Delivering more mental health beds, a state-wide roll out of post- suicide clinical supports, and a pathway for Victorians with lived experience to at the centre of our new system.

23.01.2022 Always Was, Always Will Be. First Nations People have occupied and cared for our land for over 65,000 years. This NAIDOC Week, let’s take the time to celebrate, appreciate and learn more about our Aboriginal cultures, languages and histories.... While celebrations are a little different this year, this week is as important as ever to highlight the diversity, strength and resilience of our Aboriginal communities. To find out about Victorian NAIDOC Week (online) events, visit www.vicnaidoc.com.au

21.01.2022 Tonight, I joined an online celebration of the 24 year 9 and 10 winners of the 2020 Premier’s Spirit of Anzac Prize. Like so many things this year from online schooling to this virtual event the Premier’s Spirit of Anzac Prize looks different. Instead of the usual travel tours to national and international sites of significance, this year’s recipients will receive a scholarship to support their future studies. This will enable them to expand their knowledge of Australia’...s war and peacekeeping history and heritage. This is so important, because by learning about, and sharing, the stories of those who have served, we recognise their immense sacrifice. And we preserve their memory for future generations. We also ensure our living veterans continue to receive the support they need. I thank our winners’ teachers, principals, parents and family members for supporting their participation in the prize. Congratulations to our 2020 Premier’s Spirit of Anzac Prize recipients You represent the future of continued support and recognition for our veteran community and I wish you all the best in your future studies.

20.01.2022 From 5:59PM tonight we will be moving to a traffic light system travel permit system for people wanting to come into Victoria. 16.01.2022 On Victory in the Pacific (VP) Day seventy-five years ago, there was dancing in the streets and mass celebrations in Melbourne to mark the end of WWII. While this year's 75th anniversary of the end of the war has looked very different, we are very proud that the Victorian Government's ‘at home’ commemorative and cultural program has provided Victorians with other ways to connect with and thank our veterans. This important commemorative year is now officially coming to a clo...se, but the exhibitions and resources telling the stories of WWII bravery on the frontline, and the home front, are still available for all Victorians to explore at www.vic.gov.au/world-war-2-75th-anniversary. We thank you for remembering their service and sacrifice. Lest we forget. #victoriaremembers #VPDay75

14.01.2022 BUILDING OUR RECOVERY WORKFORCE Supporting the professionals that were there for us every day - mental health professionals, family violence specialists and child support workers. This years Budget will increase support for these hard working Victorians, create better pathways to roles in these vital sectors and and recruit even more of these skilled workers.

10.01.2022 In the debate around the capacity of Victorian ESOs (ex-service organisations) to support ex-service men and women’s welfare, it should never be lost that the Federal Government have the ultimate responsibility for this and that the Federal Department of Veterans Affairs’s budget last year was $11 billion.

09.01.2022 Our $20 million investment in the budget will support Suburban Revitalisation and Growth. This will provide a boost to local suburban activity centres in Altona, Broadmeadows, Boronia, Frankston, Lilydale, Melton, Noble Park, Reservoir and Tarneit. Improvements to public squares and shopfronts will also benefit local businesses and those who use them.

09.01.2022 I congratulate former Victorian Veterans Council (VVC) Chair Lieutenant Colonel Laureen Grimes on her induction to the 2020 Victorian Honour Roll of Women, and thank her for her immense contribution to the VVC over three terms. Laureen joined the VVC in 2012 before becoming the Council’s Deputy Chair, and then its first female Chair, providing invaluable support to our state’s veteran community. She has served the Australian community since 1980 as an Army Reservist and has a...ttained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Australian Transport Corps. During her career, she has served in a broad range of roles including Defence Liaison Officer for the Melbourne Commonwealth Games, Chief of Staff of the 4th Brigade and as an Honorary Aide de Camp to the Governor of Victoria for three years. Laureen was the first female to be appointed as Commanding Officer of Victoria’s Combat Support Services Battalion at Maygar Barracks, which was closely involved with Operation Victorian Bushfire Assist in 2009. Nominations are now open for the 2021 Victorian Honour Roll of Women. I encourage you to nominate an inspirational woman like Laureen today. Visit bit.ly/HonourRollWomenVic #HonourHer

07.01.2022 There will be more playgrounds, parks and community centres for our fastest-growing areas thanks to $50m from Budget 2020 for the Growing Suburbs Fund. The GSF has helped more than 220 council projects get off the ground since it was launched in 2016 and we’re continuing its great work. This fund is all about giving fast-growing communities access to the top quality facilities they need and deserve.... It’s also an important way for councils to create jobs through construction and ongoing employment as we rebuild from coronavirus. Since 2016 the fund has created more than 7500 jobs across the interface and peri-urban area. And we’re going to create even more.

This is creating opportunities for people who have lost their job through and providing crucial workers for local councils and community orga...nisations. 04.01.2022 The 2020/21 Victorian Budget is delivering more than $4.9 million in support for Victoria’s veterans. Through this funding, the Victorian Government is improving our veterans’ lives after service, by helping them connect with their community, find meaningful work, access safe and stable housing and live healthy and well. Almost $1.3 million will be dedicated to providing interim accommodation for veterans and their families before they transition into long-term housing.... Community organisations that support veterans will receive $2.25 million in capital works grants, allowing them to invest greater resources in supporting veterans’ welfare. The RSL Active program will continue supporting veterans experiencing social isolation with a boost of $200,000 and we will improve online and virtual support for veterans who are incapacitated due to their service through a $250,000 grant. An additional $600,000 investment will see 750 veterans employed in the Victorian Public Service by 2021. For more information on this year’s budget, visit: https://www.premier.vic.gov.au/keeping-communities-connected RSL Victoria

01.01.2022 Keep Safe Victoria.

01.01.2022 Victoria has officially launched Energy Safe Victoria’s new lineworker licensing regime, which commenced on 1 January 2021. Lineworkers can carry out work on live, high-voltage assets in hazardous conditions, so it’s critical that they have the right training and qualifications.
