24.01.2022 A week ago, we put up a poll on LinkedIn asking who had experienced bullying in the workplace. A considerable 86% of respondents said yes. I want to point out that these responses came from a range of professionals ranging from Administration officers, Executives, HR managers and Solicitors, just to name a few. Position doesn’t exclude you from experiencing bullying in some form or another. There are a few things you can do to ensure your workplace remains bullying free (or ...at least less at risk): - Ensure staff are aware of the Employee Assistance Programs available. - Ensure staff know what bullying is and what to do if they experience or witness it. - Include mediation in your policies and procedures. - Be proactive in communicating standards of expected behaviour. - Create a workplace where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. - Design appropriate, realistic systems of work. - Develop productive, respectful working relationships. - Promote a positive workplace culture. - Address complaints quickly and effectively. - Identify and call bullying behaviours early. - Manage workplace stressors and risks. - Provide regular and respectful performance feedback. - Have clear policies and procedures about bullying and harassment. 22.01.2022 Help spread the word on our COVID-19 testing blitz. SHARE this with your family and friends and encourage them to get tested if they have any of the symptoms o...utlined below. There are 54 clinics throughout SA https://bit.ly/2yfrLzs A GP referral is only required for drive-through testing clinics. Low case numbers in recent days means we have an opportunity and the capacity to test a broader section of the community. Together, we'll keep South Australia SAFE and STRONG.
20.01.2022 Sportsmanship is not unlike how workplace teams should operate. In this clip, the man at the front stopped, thinking he had already won the race. The man coming second saw this and decided to push him over the finish line and do the right thing instead of claiming the victory for himself. Do you see your employees pushing each other to victory or are they looking out for themselves? How different would our workplaces be if everyone helped each other to victory and upheld a pe...ople focused, values based work ethic! Mediation can help get things back on track! Repair the festering relationships in your workplace and watch the workplace culture improve! #mediation #culture #workplace #teams #values #employees #HR #peoplefocused #goals #workplacegoals https://lnkd.in/dZiMmZm
19.01.2022 Just let that resonate for a bit. If your children had the chance, what would they say about your breakup? When going through a breakup it is fair to feel angry, frustrated, worried and defensive. It’s easy to want to go straight to the Courts as that is where individuals feel they will get the opportunity to tell their story, be heard and winBut how does that look to the children? How do they feel throughout the process? Is everything being done in their best interest? Th...e Family Circuit Court make it very clear in their guidelines that the process should be a child focused process. Mediation allows: - For parents to have a safe and productive conversation about the needs and provisions of the children moving forward. - For the children’s needs to be considered. - A negotiation, discussion, and solution focused outcome to be formed, - For parents to resolve their dispute outside of Court setting which can significantly reduce the stressors felt by children (and their parents). - For the process to be completed in as little as 2 weeks with no wait time. - For a documented outcome to be produced which can be legally formalised. 1300 768 496 #mediation #divorce #familylaw #disputeresolution #parentingplan #resolve #law #court #children #family
17.01.2022 Personal awareness is a key strength of many great leaders, but it is usually one of the key things missing when a dispute arises. By understanding why another person feels the way they do or is wanting a particular outcome, we can understand what is important to them and why. By reflection on each others reasoning and by remaining future focused throughout mediation, this can help you reach a mutually agreeable decision much quicker. #mediation #mediator #dispute #conflict #law #resolution #resolve #shawdr #leaders #teams #relationships #futurefocus #communication #leadershipdevelopment #management #culture #hr
13.01.2022 You’ve just received an internal complaint you read it and instantly think about all of the possible outcomes.. Who will investigate? Human Resources? Senior management? An external investigator? A few things to consider: - Are there allegations against a senior employee(s)? - Does the organisation have the capacity to conduct the investigation?... - Is there an appropriately skilled internal employee available to do the investigation? - Is there is an actual, potential, or perceived conflict of interest? - Does the person conducting the investigation have the appropriate qualifications/skills to investigate the matter? - Is the organisation prepared that the matter could end up in Court? - Are the allegations complex or multiple? - Is the nature of the alleged behaviour sensitive or controversial? - Has there been a breakdown of trust in the employment relationship? - Could an internal investigation be perceived as bias? External Investigators might cost more in the short term, but they could save money, stress and time later on! Having an external, independent investigator helps show that the investigation into the allegations and conduct is impartial and procedurally fair. #workplaceinvestigation #workplace #shawdr #investigation
11.01.2022 Managing conflict in the workplace is a time-consuming but necessary task. During our current pandemic, one field of workers are likely at higher risk of emerging conflict than many others the medical field. There have been unique stressors placed on hospitals and clinics and while the current situation may not necessarily be the cause of conflict in the workplace, it may just be the icing on the cake. Conflicts that were present months ago may surface now making handlin...g the current work pressures difficult. Conflicts may exist between Physicians, Nurses, Practice Managers, Reception staff or between other staff members in the workplace and may range from minor disagreements to major controversies. Some of the major conflicts we see from this field of work are: - Ambiguity in communication - Limited interpersonal skills - Problems with management - Accusations of bias - Disagreement with decisions - Difficult interpersonal behaviours - Bullying/harassment accusations - Handling of workload and work expectations If you are having difficulties in your medical practice or hospital, we can prioritise your matter to ensure the conflict is resolved as soon as possible! #mediation #medical #conflict #resolution See more
10.01.2022 What is your new years resolution? While in reality every day is an opportunity to start fresh, the new year symbolises 'out with the old and in with the new' - new relationships, new health, new goals, new job, new you. Everyone is quick to start eating healthy and join a gym, but few people think about challenging the way they communicate, react and interact with others. Whether it be improving culture in the workplace, negotiating how to do business better, or repairing a... relationship for the benefit of children, mediation can offer an opportunity to move forward and improve your life in ways you may not have thought of - Don't go into 2021 with 2020's problems! Here's to wishing everyone out there a wonderful 2021! #business #health #opportunity #culture #people #success #react #mediation #mediate #resolve #conflictresolution #conflict #moveforward #welcome2021 #wellbeing #mentalhealth #worklifebalance

07.01.2022 When in conflict, it is so important to try and shift from a 'point of view' to a 'viewing point'. By understanding the other persons reasoning you are not only stepping closer to a resolution, but you are evolving your personal development too. #conflict #resolution #Mediation #mediator #ADR #communication #personaldevelopment #perspective #psychology #hr #law #management

02.01.2022 Effective workplace relationships need to be formed between co-workers, superiors, subordinates, stakeholders and clients. Many of the mediation inquiries we get are for workplace relationships that have festered for YEARS!! The toxicity is not just between the two people that have the relationship breakdown but also their supervisors, their team, the organisational culture and the businesses bottom line. It doesn’t take much for trust to start deteriorating between co-wor...kers leading to gossip and other negative workplace behaviours. Typically, if the parties involved just spoke to each other, the conflict would reduce. However, sometimes communicating ineffectively can be as bad as not communicating at all. Mediation is an effective means to seek the resolution of a tense or difficult workplace situation. It provides a neutral third party to oversee the communication between the disputing parties to keep it effective. It is efficient as the first line of defense to mending workplace conflict before things get out of hand. The primary aim of a workplace mediation is to restore the employment relationship wherever possible, by working together to move forward past the conflict confidently, comfortably and harmoniously; not determine who was right or wrong in the past.
