25.01.2022 With the new Government restrictions on density being eased yesterday, we are excited to announce that lessons will be extended back to the normal duration of 30 minutes, masks will no longer be required, but enncouraged where social distancing is not possible, and the showers will be opened!! We still encourage parents to remain outside where possible, and of utmost importance, every adult who is remaining in the swim school must still check in using our QR code or attendance sheet at reception for contact tracing purposes.

24.01.2022 Hi everyone, please take time to read this article. The two quotes from this article that really concern us here at Shawn's Swim School are "If people arent considering getting back in the water until September, there's a real issue of 6 months of no lessons, there's that real danger coming into Summer" Also the fact that Florida, that is just starting its Summer, has record high drowning rates. These are just a couple of reasons why we strongly encourage you to enrol or re-enrol sooner rather than later.

23.01.2022 We are so grateful to every child that entered our drawing competition. We were very impressed by the time , effort and creativeness that went into these drawings. There were so many entries we decided to break them into 2 categories. 3-7 year olds and 8-14 year olds. Our teachers and staff were on the judging panel and found it very hard to pick the winners. It was a tough decision. In the end we had to narrow it down to 2 winners. In the 3-7 year old category Aaryan Panchal was voted the winner. In the 8-14 year olds Peta de Zilva was voted the winner. Congratulations to our winners. They will each receive a .5 litre tub of ice cream with their choice of 3 flavours from the people at Sprinkles. Well done to everyone who entered!!

21.01.2022 7/1/21: Traffic Alert!! West Gate Freeway Closed between the M80 Ring Road & Grieve Parade from Wednesday 6 January to Monday 11 January. If you are coming from the city, Newport , Williamstown or Altona, use Kororoit Creek Rd, then left into Millers Road, then right onto Queens St all the way through Altona Meadows then onto the freeway. Allow and extra 15-20 minutes.

21.01.2022 We would like to ask all of our families to sign this online petition in support of opening swim schools. As it stands at the moment, with the recent stages being announced, as unclear as they are, our best case scenario of an opening date is late November. We would like to be open at least a month earlier than that in order to be able to teach children the life saving skill of swimming. It doesn't make sense to us that children will be able to go to the hairdresser to get a hair cut, and go to a shop to buy bathers a full month before they are allowed to attend swim lessons in a chlorinated pool, which is an environment that the virus cannot survive in. Please support us by signing this petition and sharing it to as many people you can. As an industry, we are struggling to be heard, please be our voice and help us to be heard.

20.01.2022 If you live in the west you are used to roadworks and traffic chaos. There are new roads open and other roads closed in the vicinity of the swim school. Whether this will have an effect on your travel time as you head to the swim school all depends on where you are coming from. For regular updates on the ever changing roadworks we suggest you click on the following link to find the most up to date information. 19.01.2022 Just a reminder, School holidays are coming up soon. We thought we would run a different kind of competition to inspire parents and their children to spend some quality time together away from their screens. So we are going to have a cake making competition. The theme will of course be "Swimming" . You can interpret this is any way you like. It could be a pool scene, a beach scene, a pair of goggles, your favourite swim teacher etc. You can make cup cakes, an ice cream cake, ...or even used fondant for the first time, made from scratch. It's really messy and sticky and fun, which is what the holidays are all about. Let your kids use their imagination to come up with an idea. Let them stir the mix, add the food colouring, lick the beaters and generally make a mess! 2 lucky winners will win a .5 litre tub of ice cream with 3 flavours of your choice from the great people at Sprinkles Ice Creamery - Lollies 'n more in Hoppers Crossing. 18.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Shawn here. Yesterday I received a timely reminder from my staff to keep my head up and stay positive. To say I'm grateful is an understatement. Please watch this video and check out the high quality, compassionate and supportive young humans that await your children when we are allowed to return. It's RUOK today. My wonderful staff have checked in on me. And I am OK. Thanks for asking guys. I will be even better when we can re open and see each other again, and all our little swimmers. I encourage everyone out there to check on at least one other person today. It really does make a difference, and after receiving the wonderful message from my staff yesterday, I am speaking from experience.

12.01.2022 Just a reminder we are closed for lessons from Monday 25th January to Sunday 31st January. We re-open when term 1 begins on February 1st.

10.01.2022 We just wanted to thank all of our customers who have returned to swim classes this week. We are getting an overwhelming response from students who are so excited to see their teacher and get back into the swim of things. And we are getting magnificent compliments from parents who are very impressed with all the policies and procedures we have in place to keep everyone as safe as possible. They are all enjoying the smaller than usual class sizes and extra special attention. Whilst it's not business as usual, we are enjoying once again being able to see all the children's smiling faces and making our local children safer around water in an attempt to reduce their risk of drowning, a danger that doesn't go away even in these times of Covid 19.

10.01.2022 What a great first day back we had today. I was going to post some wonderful pictures from our big day, but then I received the most humbling and gratifying email from one of our customers who attended today. English is her second language, and I am not going to edit her email, we love it just the way it is: "I Just whould like TO say Big and Big Appreciate to all because.... 1. We are sooooooooo happy TO Swim again. ... 2. To go back TO learn Swim, all the staffs had/have to work very hard/prepared for re-opening. I totally understand/could see How and what did/prepared for re-poening. I and Hogan were very confident TO BE ready TO go back TO Swimming school because you sent us all the details (Specially the video). I (as a mum) really really really appreciate to be feel safe in myself. Also actually today I easily notice that How and what you are really caring and looking for our safe. I really really appreciate again and even I felt I am So proud of My-self WHO IS one of member for Shawn's (Which IS the Best Swimming school in Melbourne ) Lastly, Big Big THANK YOU all teachers and staffs Appreciate See you ON next Monday"

07.01.2022 It is with much sadness, disappointment and frustration that we need to announce our temporary closure due to the new state government restrictions. This closure will commence from 11:59pm tonight, Wednesday 8th July. We are still open tonight, so if you want to get a last minute swim lesson in we would welcome your call. We are very grateful that were able to have a "dress rehearsal" over the past 2 and a half weeks for a permanent opening once we are allowed. Our new polici...es and procedures were embraced by staff and customers alike. Shawn would like to thank all those who attended. The students were so excited to be back , the teachers were so excited to see them, and the parents and care givers all felt comfortable with the policies and procedures we had in place to keep everyone as safe as possible. We received high praise for our efforts. We are extremely confident that we will be ready from day one to welcome everyone back to the safest and cleanest swim school with the highest quality swim teachers and swim lessons available in our area. If you were still enrolled as of today, Wednesday 8th of July, your positions will be held for when we return. Please keep an eye on all our forms of communication , whether it be our e-newsletter, our app notifications or our facebook page, for news of our re-opening. 07.01.2022 We have been blown away by the quality and the creativity of all the entries in our cake competition, with the theme being "swimming or something aquatic". All entries were voted on by our staff and it was a very close call. There can only be 2 official winners and they were Aston Springveldt with his creative cupcakes and the Cheah family for their amazing mermaid cake. They will receive a tub of ice cream from Sprinkles Ice Creamery. Really though, everyone who entered is a winner because they would have all got to eat their delicious entries. Thank you to everyone who took the time to bake together as a family!

04.01.2022 We live in serious times, and the physical health of our children is extremely important. But I had a little giggle at this video and it reminded me how important it is for our children's mental health to get back to some form of normality. 04.01.2022 Even during Covid lockdown our staff training continues. This time doing our CPR update course. It had to be done online this year and improvisation was necessary. Check out Beth's submission doing CPR on her Giant Teddy. I challenge you not to smile when watching!! We are so proud of our staff and can't wait to get back to doing what we do best!
