21.01.2022 Last week, students at Champagnat Campus were privileged to hear from AFLW Adelaide Football Club Players, Eloise Jones & Caitlin Gould and Australian Wicket Keeper, Alex Carey. The Q&A styled conversation focused on sportsmanship and the importance of respect. Our students reflected on the morning and shared what they took away from the presentation. "The key message we heard from Alex was about the importance of respect in the sporting arena. He described how immensely impo...rtant respect is on and off the field and how you are much better off in life by showing respect towards others." The girls (Eloise & Caitlin) then moved onto talking about the team side of football and how important it was. They told us that being in a team meant they needed to always have respect for their guernsey, respect for teammates on and off the field and respect for the other teams. They also added that it was best not to have an overconfident mindset before the game and to reflect on the games afterwards. They both told us to not think about mistakes that have already been made and that there is always room to improve. www.shc.sa.edu.au/sp/from-the-sports-office-friday-7-august

02.01.2022 Today we stopped to honour those who have served and fallen during war with a Remembrance Day ceremony across both campuses. As a mark of respect, students and staff paused for one-minute's silence to reflect on the sacrifices our fellow old scholars & community members made. This morning, Year 10 & 11 students, Lizzie, Shanea and Lailani attended the Remembrance Day service for the Armed Services at West Terrace Cemetery. The service's theme focused on remembering our Indig...enous Service men and women, fitting with the celebration of NAIDOC Week. One of our oldest servicemen, at 100 years old, asked to meet the students to chat about his experiences and the importance of making memories. "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them."
