22.01.2022 #Repost @coachjoshtempany with @get_repost Results! . I know you see a lot of my posts based around seeing body composition results, and although Shaz is seeing some amazing results with that (losing over 7kg in 6 weeks), her biggest win I believe has been in her movement.... . When she came to see me 6 weeks ago, Shaz couldn’t even squat to a 45 degree angle (relating to the angle her thighs are at with the floor), struggled to perform 1 incline push up, and getting knee to ground on her lunges wasn’t even a thought. . Fast forward to 6 weeks later, Shaz is moving to full depth squats (still a few tweaks to make), she’s smashing out multiple reps of her incline push ups, and lunging full depth. . Everything’s moving along really nicely with both body composition and performance for Shaz, and this is only the first 6 weeks of working with her. 18.01.2022 Another awesome transformation to share with you guys! . For those that know Josie Mulcahy know how hard of a worker she is both inside and outside of the gym. Whether it’s smashing herself through an Ironman or cruising through a 15km Saturday run, she is always on the move. . Here’s what Josie herself had to say about the 2 photos;... . How is this for a comparison! On the left the 12 months leading up to that photo I had completed 3 Half iron mans, one 50km ultra among other events, the right is now with pretty much no cardio . Although she wasn’t religiously tracking her food, she had the mentality of doing a stupid amount of work outside of the gym (running, swimming, cycling etc) so that she could drink on the weekends. . This isn’t a post to discredit activities like running, as they have great benefits, but moreso to highlight the benefits of strength training and the role it’s plays in hitting your body composition goals. 06.01.2022 Another weightlifter coming up through the ranks here at STS After 6 weeks of putting the foundations in place and breaking the movement down into small chunks, we are now starting to put it all together. This is now the first week practicing full snatch variations for @lisamchugh08. We’ve spent a lot of time working on mobility through the upper back in order to be more comfortable in the bottom of the squat with arms overhead, which has paid off really well. Also a lo...t of position-specific strength work, and plenty of repetition of the movements needed for Olympic lifting that are unfamiliar and uncomfortable for someone from more of a powerlifting-style training background. Of course there is room for improvement, but considering the stage of the learning process we are in I am stoked with how it’s looking. Heaps of fun to coach Lisa through her weightlifting journey, and I'm pumped to see the progress continue!
06.01.2022 What’s the secret to that body composition goal you’ve been chasing for years? It isn’t having the best training program on earth, or eating the cleanest and healthiest foods everyday, and it isn’t taking every recovery/fat loss/muscle building supplement under the sun. THE most important factor when it comes to achieving that goal is consistency. Consistency with training 4-5 days a week, consistently being aware of the amount of macronutrients you put into your body without... simply relying on the star health rating system at the supermarket, consistency with your recovery (SLEEP, food, stress management). We do our best to provide great resources for all of these areas. But at the end of the day you COULD have the best possible training program, being overseen by the best coach, have the best possible foods in the pantry, and have every tool for a great night’s sleep. But if you’re unable to be consistent with all of these factors, then the result won’t be achieved. Consistency above all. As Bruce Lee said: Long term consistency trumps short term intensity Go out and be great and be consistent. The two are synonymous

05.01.2022 " If you are going to achieve excellence in big things, you develop the habit in little matters. Excellence is not an exception, it is a prevailing attitude" - Colin Powell... To achieve success in whatever we choose to pursue i.e. lose weight, we must break bad habits and build good ones. HABIT LOOP 101 1. Cue or external event is experienced (smell of food) 2. Information is filtered & interpreted based on past experiences (that very first time you had that food) 3. State is formed (Craving/Desire) 4. Phsiology created (salivation) 5. Response or behaviour (snacking) 6. Reward (satisfies the desire/craving) Over time the brain links the cue or external event like eating chocolate with the reward i.e. enjoyment/satisfaction/desire (for the chocolate lovers go back in time to when you were a child and first had chocolate - how did that make you feel) which completes the loop and forms the habit... So how can we break a bad habit Some simple rules we have found successful if you struggle to simply eliminate are; 1. Make it invisible - Don't have the desirable in the house 2. Make it unattractive - Every time you do the bad habit you will not (insert thing you want) i.e. no weekly 3. Make it hard - Delete your uber eats account 4. 02.01.2022 Celebrating wins . Time to celebrate a nice little win that Emma Morgan has had recently, and also highlighting the craziness she is about to put herself through. . For those that know Em, you would know how much she loves her running. Recently she completed a virtual event which consisted of completing 10km a day for 10 days straight, which is super impressive.... . But if you think that’s impressive, Em is about to participate in another virtual event that consists of completing 1000km over the course of 100 days. . Although we don’t focus on running at @shedlocktrainingsystems the strength training that Em has done with us has shown massive improvements through her running outside of the gym. . Strength training has been a positive for my running. It has improved muscle endurance and recovery time. It has given my greater confidence in being able to push myself and knowing I can manage it. . Can’t wait to see how you go through the next virtual event Em! See more
