19.01.2022 ARTPRIZE 5: Theme - CONNECTION - Now open for entries! Tasmania's multi-artfom art prize. Enter at https://www.undergroundartbar.com.au/artprize In a world wher...e we ‘value’ digital connection there seems to be an innate desire to be connected on many levels. Brene Brown describes that connection ‘is neuro-biologically wired...’ in us. Connectivity, being connected, having connection with others; our partner, family, our pets, our environment; connection to things, our devices, beliefs, values, the divine. What does connection really mean to you? What does it mean to be disconnected? A poor connection? How will you interpret this in your art? We can’t wait to find out! _____________________________________________________________ ArtPrize is open to all Tasmanian artists and art-forms; painters, sculptors, actors, improvisors, installation artists, soundscape, musicians, projection and lighting artists, puppeteers, film, site-specific artists, comedians, dancers, poets, singers, circus artists and multi-disciplinary artists, and art-forms we're yet to hear about! _____________________________________________________________ #tasmania #hobart #launceston #tasmanianart #tassieart #tassieartist #tassielocal #tassiedancer #politas

15.01.2022 Our beautiful new exhibitions just keep coming with Wolfgang Glowacki's 'Fragility' also opening this week. Come and see them for yourselves! 'Fragility'... Wolfgang Glowacki N O W S H O W I N G in Gallery 6 until Sun 17 Jan, 2021 This exhibition by wilderness photographer Wolfgang Glowacki brings together images of response to change, fragility, beauty, transition, temporality, uncertainty and the unknown. In a year of global upheaval, Wolfgang explores the themes of collective uncertainty around being human during a pandemic and the ever increasing impacts of climate change; on what it means to be in the flux of loss and personal growth; on the stillness of awe and nourishment that being in nature provides whether experienced in our backyards or in wild places. Wolfgang shares these musings and responses with macro, monochrome, underwater and landscape photography. Image courtesy of the Artist. 'Autumn Glow' Mt Murchison.

03.01.2022 Ágnes Herczeg, Lace Artwork "My name is Ágnes Herczeg. I was born in Hungary and I still live here in a small town next to the river Danube. I started working w...ith lace works in 2013. I mainly use natural threads of plant origin like linen, hemp, cotton, jute, raphia etc. While preparing a lace work, I usually make use of threads of different origin and thickness and I also apply several techniques. I mainly use needle lace technique, which I frequently combine with pillow lace and braiding work. The frame of the pictures is made of small branches, bark, coconut shell or any other material of my liking. This 'frame' constitutes a compositional part of the picture. I lay high emphasis on planning as I have to provide not solely visual content for the picture but also elaborate its structural elements and the order of work phases as well; which may sometimes be as complicated as solving a riddle." www.agnesherczeg.com https://www.instagram.com/agnesherczeg_lace/
