09.01.2022 What a fantastic use of otherwise obsolete packaging. I wonder if there is a group here that could give it a go so we have some extra resources to give to the homeless next winter?

01.01.2022 In 4 weeks time, we will be providing a special evening meal for those who are some of the most vulnerable and lonely in our local community. Can you help Daniel to reach his goal to help us to give an amazing experience to brighten the end of 2020 for some who have done it tougher than most this year? thank you for your kindness

01.01.2022 Shekinah / Shop 4 Hope Update. You may have seen our post earlier this week announcing that we are now able to offer shower and laundry facilities to those who ...are doing it tough. The Riverside Lions, Tasmanian Community Fund and Mobile Mission Maintenance worked collaboratively to see this to fruition! (see post on our Shekinah House page for more details) We are also very thankful to Becks (Mitre 10) Launceston who donated a clothes line (we have a clothes dryer in the facility, but will line dry the towels, etc), and to Hunters Products for supplying a number of cleaning items. The facilities can be accessed through Shop 4 Hope during the days that the shop is open. We are hoping we will have more volunteers so that we can open more often. (if you are interested to volunteer with us, in any capacity, please send us a private message and we can have a chat). . Our bread runs in the Launceston and West Tamar communities are still well patronised. We estimate that approx 40 households benefit from these bread runs each week. . Over the past four Sunday evenings, we have provided 108 evening meals- being an average of 27 meals each week. (The average number of meals we were providing prior to the COVID 19 lockdowns was 17 per week). Usually a number of those we provide a Sunday evening meal would have breakfast at the City Mission or the Salvos during the week. We offered breakfast packs and vouchers on the Sunday evening for the recent Public Holiday Monday (Nov 1 for Nov 2). . In the past week, we have also provided - a single man with a double bed ensemble- its been a long time since he has had a bed to sleep in. He has his own unit for a little while now after having been homeless for some time. - another single homeless man, who is currently sleeping rough was provided with a few changes of clothing. - and another man, who lost his job due to COVID was provided with a food, toiletries and pet food hamper. He has been doing his best to pay his rent since losing his job, and to provide for his dog and to feed himself. Having the Aurora bill and a few other added expenses meant he didnt have the means to buy food. . We are so grateful that we live in such a generous community that has given so that we, in turn, have been able to give to those in need. Thank you for your support! See more
