19.01.2022 Auzdown Droughtmasters For Sale ($0.00 start-up cost) It is with great regret that I find myself in a position where I can no longer financially sustain my Dr...oughtmaster herd. I have taken far too many head of cattle to the sales over the past few months in a bid to save my breeders and maintain a herd for the future. However, with climbing cost and unavailability of feed - I cannot sustain the herd any longer. I have 7 head left (details of cattle attached). I am seeking a young person who would like a start in the Droughtmaster industry to take on the cattle for several years and retain all progeny with the aim of returning the cows when times are better in my area. Not only will I offer the use of my cattle, I have the following new items that could be lent to the potential breeder: 2 x round hay feeders Molasses lick drum Number brands and furness Set of yards Portable loading ramp and a Top of the range Leicht’s CIA cattle crush with head bale and other add ons If the future breeder would like to show the cattle I would negotiate a deal with show costs if shown under Auzdown Droughtmasters Cheap purchase of cattle truck price negotiable Some show gear to show the cattle EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO START! 12.01.2022 Here's hoping they are wrong

11.01.2022 I have been wanting to write this article for a while now, so here it is. Bear with me for the wordiness, I feel like there are many out there that will relate ... To all my farmer clients, this is for you: I am only one vet, in one small town. Our town is like many small towns at the moment - in the throes of a long lasting and far reaching drought. I am only one vet, seeing poor cattle that are too light in condition to be sold, some too weak to have their calves. As a result calves are dying inside their mothers. Other cows are walking away from their newborn calves, or failing to produce any milk at all in the hard conditions. I am only one vet, who has elderly clients in tears during a farm visit because not only are they struggling to afford to feed their cattle, but they can’t source any feed of quality anyway because there is none to be found. Cattle are being fed on the roadside because there is no feed left in their paddocks. The cattle are the retirees’ only source of income, their superannuation if you will. I am only one vet, who is seeing horses on a weekly basis with colic and choke as a result of dry, poor quality pasture combined with cool weather. Some intestinal blockages have been the size of watermelons. I drench them with oil, electrolytes, water, and pray. Most survive treatment, some do not. Others relapse and colic more than once. I am only one vet, and the realist in me knows that the long term implications of this drought are going to be felt for many, many years to come. Massive and necessary destocking efforts have essentially resulted in a shortage of beef cattle across the eastern part of the country. Whilst the shortage is not immediately apparent now, it soon will be when people start to try to restock and rebuild their farms. Supply and demand dictates that for those who will be trying to fully restock will likely be faced with unprecedented cattle prices. This essentially means they have sold their stock at reasonable to low prices, and will be forced to buy back in at premium prices (if indeed there are any available to be bought at all). I am only one vet, and there are thousands of vets just like me with clients just like this. I am not alone. We are not alone. This is happening everywhere around us. If you aren’t one of these people, then you surely know of them. If you or someone in your circle is doing it tough, know this: - We are all in this together. - Keep an eye out for each other, look after your friends and neighbours. Check in on them. OFTEN. - Every day that we make it through is one day closer to that long awaited rain
