11.01.2022 HOW DID THE DUCK RACE COME ABOUT?!? January 2011 saw the Leigh River break its banks and continue to rise over 8m. It flooded the cricket club rooms, the primary school and a few houses near by. To help raise funds for those affected, a few of us locals decided it would be a good idea to revive the old Duck Race which used to run in the 90s. It was named Revenge on the River and proved a success with all involved, with many of the locals suggesting we make it an annual event again. 2020 marks our 10th year of Duck Racing and we cant wait to see you all there! 04.01.2022 Today, we were disappointed to hear a couple of stories regarding the Duck Race which are incorrect. Entertainment for this year will be African Drummers starting at 11.00 to 1.00 pm. This is an interactive activity and should be fun - need to know more https://afrobeat.com.au/. Afterwards the Teesdale Karate Group will be giving a demonstration of their work. Followed by Lash78 https://www.facebook.com/Lash78band/ to finish the day.. More disappointing was hearing the story that this our 10th year of racing, was going to be the last. This was news to the organisers who intend to keep the event going for many more years to come.
