If you buy local, at locally owned small shops or markets, it gives you the opportunity to ask questions that can be answered pretty quickly which enables you to purchase smarter. If you don't get the answer you are wanting, you are able to provide feedback which in turn should eventually give you the answer you were looking for. :) P.S - apologies for the grinder in the background - I didn't even notice until I played the video back!!! OOPS!! :)

24.01.2022 I cannot wait to try this one! Handmade facial cleaner bar from Victoria. I found Tiny Blue on @etsyaus and seen this beautiful product and ordered it straight away. Packaged in a REUSED box with RECYCLED paper, cardboard wrap on the bar and a little note on recycled paper filled with seeds that I can plant and be surprised with something (I don’t know what the seeds are but excited to find out). I also received a little heart shape gift as well. I absolutely LOVE finding ...new small business wanting to make the world a better place and who appreciate your $$$$. 23.01.2022 Shopping in your own local area is a great option for reducing and reusing. I have been using moisturiser for both face and body in bars but I have found that they are a little hard to use in the winter and I have been looking for some other options. I was shopping at a local store of mine and found this locally made range of creams. I asked the owner of the store if they take the glass jars back to REUSE and they do!! WIN!!! ... By shopping local, it makes it easy for you to ask questions and easy to get answers. There are so many people wanting to do better and there are people out there making it MUCH easier for us to be better! Today I went to @aldiaustralia and found strawberries packaged in a compostable box!! yes it did have a plastic sheet on the top but this has REDUCED the plastic component considerably! 20.01.2022 Ooooohhhhh........ my delivery arrived today which = more changes!! Todays delivery included 2 x pairs of @modibodi menstrual undies (reusable and no more menstrual waste), they are made out of natural fabrics including bamboo and come packaged in a thin cardboard which can be recycled. And a @nourishedlife sponge to replace my plastic loofah. The sponge is made out of Japenses Konjac potato fibres, vegan friendly, 100% biodegradable, all natural, lasts 6 weeks and you c...an pop into your compost or bury in the garden when its time to change. It is also packaged in paper from recycled stock. 06.01.2022 I BUILT A WORM FARM!!!!! I am so excited to share that I FINALLY built a worm farm..... absolute highlight of my year! WOO HOO!!! I didnt want to buy a plastic worm farm for $100, I wanted to REUSE as many items as possible.... I saved 2 x polystyrene boxes from going into landfill by dropping into my fruit and veg store and asking for them. I did have to buy some fly mesh, coconut fibre for the base and the worms and I was able to reuse an old towel from home. My little neighbours also helped out by providing us with a list of names for our worms which is proudly displayed on the front. 06.01.2022 It's the 2nd week of 'Plastic Free July'.......how is everyone going? Have you made any changes in your household? Here are a few quick tips for change in your household. Tips supplied by Plasticfreejuly If you're struggling to find a product without plastic, maybe you can switch to a bigger quantity that uses less plastic overall. One big yoghurt tub is less plastic than lots of small plastic tubs, and a big packet of crisps/potato chips uses less plastic than lots of mini... packets. Perhaps you've got the option to switch from a product packaged in plastic to a product packaged in glass. Look for glass jars of jam, mayonnaise, peanut butter, mustard and other condiments. Check if your local bakery has paper bags as an option, or look for bread products that aren't pre-packaged - we often find that rolls are sold loose, and can go in our reusable cloth bag, or a paper bag.
