25.01.2022 Shameless plug for our 2020 #movember fire team at Shellharbour FRNSW. It’s been a tough year for many of us, and this year Movember is focussing in mental health. Can you help? Donate a few dollars here. https://au.movember.com/team/2358626

23.01.2022 Busy few weeks for our hazmat and fire crews at #FRNSW Shellharbour, including a radioactive hazmat response and motor vehicle accidents. Today’s response was to Terara near Nowra, where a car had rolled into the creek releasing fuel and oil into the waterway. FRNSW Hazmat applied absorbent booms around the incident and biodegradable product on the creek with assistance from our friends at the #NSWRFS rendering the area. ... Lickily the driver walked away from the incident unhurt. Stay safe

19.01.2022 Sometimes you can’t escape work. While riding Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain in Paris Disneyland, one of our off duty holidaying firefighters assisted two staff members evacuate all the passengers. The ride broke down mid ride on a 45 degree incline. Interesting to see all the internals of the ride when the emergency lights came on. All passengers got out safely. Well done senior firefighter Mark Williams.

19.01.2022 Last Monday our hazmat crews from 488 Shellharbour Fire and Rescue NSW (C Platoon) responded to a car that has crashed into the Crookhaven Riven off Culburra Rd. Firefighters took the hazmat boat in case needed. The hazmat team assisted #FRNSW and #NSWRFS crews on scene with retrieval and fuel/oil spill containment. The driver escaped serious injury.

18.01.2022 Before social distancing there were group photos. Recently Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters received new duty wear uniforms. Here's Shellharbour "C" platoon showing off the new gear. All your local #FRNSW fire stations remain available to respond 24/7 and are here to help.

15.01.2022 Fire and Rescue NSW responded to a truck accident earlier today at Falls Creek, along with other emergency services. #FRNSW 440 station Shoalhaven called for assistance from 488 Shellharbour Hazmat to deal with the resulting diesel spill and the remaining fuel on the truck.

13.01.2022 And that’s a wrap! Thank you to all who donated. Donations can still be made for a few weeks. Thanks to all who helped support mental health for our emergency s...ervices during this difficult year, and our wives for putting up with our magnificent MOs! Stay safe. https://au.movember.com/team/2358626

12.01.2022 Recently, firefighters from FRNSW Shellharbour Hazmat responded to assist the NSWRFS following a large truck fire in the Princes Hwy south of Nowra. #NSWRFS extinguished the fire and contained 400L of diesel from leaking into waterways. #FRNSW decanted the diesel into hazmat drums using specialist equipment to render the area safe. ... Another great save and a good example of teamwork.

12.01.2022 Shellharbour firefighters on "C" platoon changed over to our new Fire + Rescue uniform today. Can you spot the difference? #FRNSW

10.01.2022 All our crews at 488 Shellharbour busy today, and every fire crew across the Illawarra, Shoalhaven, and beyond. Stay safe out there. #FRNSW

09.01.2022 If a firefighter collapses unconscious at a fire, the other firefighters and ambulance officers need to be able to render assistance quickly. That is difficult due to all the safety gear we wear, so we regularly practice a procedure to remove the firefighter from all the equipment ASAP. Another day, another fire drill at FRNSW Shellharbour.

08.01.2022 Great photo of one of our Shellharbour #FRNSW trucks.

06.01.2022 We’ve lost a few firefighters this year in tragic circumstances. It was a touching scene here at 488 Shellharbour today when Senior Firefighter Paul Camilleri added some memorabilia to our trophy cabinet in memory of his brother-in-law, retired Senior Firefighter Bradley Kelleher (5980) who passed away recently. We remember all those we’ve lost.

06.01.2022 The things you find in the fire station safe! #preparedforanything #FRNSW

02.01.2022 Numerous children were seen running around with colourful stains today at Windang Primary School’s colour run fundraising event, so firefighters from Fire & Rescue NSW Shellharbour were called to hose them down. The fundraising was catching, as can be seen by the colour runs on senior firefighter Chris Cutting’s uniform. ... Ably supported by firefighters Paul Camilleri and Paul Sparks, under the watchful eye of Station Officer Darin Sullivan.
