25.01.2022 A massive cash splash from the State Government will deliver Shellharbour a long awaited new hospital. The project is still five years away, with the hospital's location - and the future of the existing site - still up in the air.
25.01.2022 Local businesses backing our local nurses and midwives against the states’ cruel wage freeze. Local businesses know the value of our frontline workers!
25.01.2022 According to a study by the Centre for Future Work, Premier Berejiklian's proposed wage freeze against nurses and midwives will have sweeping effects on our local economies and communities. It's a freeze that NSW can't afford! Stand against the Berejiklian Government's cruel wage freeze today: www.stopthewagefreeze.com.au
24.01.2022 Apparently, it's ok for the Premier to dole out massive pay rises to her mates, while nurses and midwives miss out on what we deserve. To top it off, it's apparently ok because it's "only for 12 months", not considering the long term impacts on our incomes, super, families and communities. Tell the Premier she's out of touch: www.stopthewagefreeze.com.au
24.01.2022 Nurses and midwives were here for NSW through fire, drought and pandemic. But when they needed the Berejiklian Government to be there for them, the Government decided to freeze their hard-earned wages.
23.01.2022 BREAKING Nurses and midwives in NSW have overwhelmingly voted to oppose the Berejiklian Government's cruel wage freeze at this year's NSWNMA Annual Conference. ...Their motion reads: "That this Annual Conference of the NSWNMA condemns the Berejiklian Government’s plan to freeze the wages of nurses and midwives, despite its own Treasury advice indicating this will worsen the recession. Public sector workers support local economies by spending our wages in local shops and businesses. Nurses and midwives continue to put our lives on the line in order to protect the community through the pandemic and our commitment deserves to be acknowledged. We should not be punished with a wage freeze that will affect the rest of our working lives. This conference reaffirms our demand for safe workplaces and proper financial recognition and we call upon the Berejiklian Government to reverse its decision to impose a wage freeze. We will continue campaigning in our local electorates across New South Wales until we achieve safe workplaces and fair pay." *This photo was taken at a previous Annual Conference. Due to COVID-19 and current social distancing measures, this year's conference was conducted online.

19.01.2022 Thanks to our Shellharbour Branch members who fought along side the community to keep our hospital public. We will now be able to provide the services our community needs and deserves with $700 million dollars.
19.01.2022 "There's inadequate staffing and inadequate resourcing" The people of rurla and regional NSW have been left out in the cold by this Government when it comes to healthcare. We're backing calls for an inquiry to help address these issues. Via 9 News Illawarra
19.01.2022 Across the state, nurses and midwives joined celebrities and organisations to ensure that we can #EndCOVIDForAll. Because as health professionals and advocates, we know that this pandemic isn't over until it's over for all of us. See if you can find yourself in the wrap up video!

This wage freeze truly is an insult against every frontline worker who has put their lives on the line during this pandemic. It's time the Premier scrapped this heartless policy.
15.01.2022 It takes people to provide adequate patient care - not just bricks and mortar! While we welcome the announcement for a new Shellharbour Hospital, it must come with improved staffing ratios to ensure improved patient outcomes for the Illawarra. Via WIN News Illawarra... 15.01.2022 Today’s rally coincided at the same time ironically that Gladys announced her intention to proceed with the public sector wage freeze. We won’t stand silent on this one.

14.01.2022 "It's not just today - it's into the future" Gladys Berejiklian's cruel wage freeze has long-term implications for nursing and midwifery. It will make lives harder for all of us, and make it more difficult to recruit new nurses and midwives into the professions.

11.01.2022 In the wake of a huge victory today....but with Gladys still threatening on taking the pay freeze to the Industrial Relations Tribunal, I am asking all of you to speak to your colleagues about joining the NSWNMA. We need numbers to fight this and we need huge numbers. Today over 60 branches participated in rallies across the state simultaneously. Our union is only as strong as it’s membership. I spend my time off fighting for members and non-members alike but we need a stro...nger voice to keep fighting on. If you want your 2.5% pay rise and you are not already a member, I ask you to join the Shellharbour Branch of the NSWNMA, one of the most active branches in the state and take on the fight. Send me a private message or come and see me at work. The choice is clear. The time is now. Chevonne.

05.01.2022 As community transmission of COVID-19 in parts of the state continues, we have increased precautions within our facilities, in line with advice from NSW Health.... All visitors must wear a mask when in any of our facilities. While there is currently no evidence of community transmission in our District and our case numbers remain low, this additional precautionary measure is being taken to ensure our strong position is maintained and the risk of potential spread is reduced. Dr Bruce Ashford explains how masks are an important part of our COVID safe plan for our facilities. For information on how to wear a mask, visit: https://www.islhd.health.nsw.gov.au//How_to_wear_your_mask

02.01.2022 Nurses and midwives have been hit hard by the health and economic effects of COVID-19. Premier Berejiklian's wage freezes are a simply cruel and ill-conceived at this time.
01.01.2022 STOP PLAYING GAMES, PREMIER! Nurses and midwives are sick of the table talk from the Premier and her Government - saying that frontline workers are respected, w...hile freezing our wages in the next breath. It's time she stopped gambling with local communities, and backed away from her cruel and ill-conceived wage freeze.
01.01.2022 "When you don't have the money coming in, it definitely affects how you spend that money. I think the wage freeze will affect us" - Illawarra florist Krista Langley. Local businesses in the Illawarra know that if nurses and midwives' wages are frozen, it's their business' bottom line that will suffer. If Premier Berejiklian truly cared about local communities, she would call off this cruel wage freeze now! Via WIN News Illawarra
