25.01.2022 Turning old tyres into safer roads - HOW COOL! Council is using recycled tyres in the maintenance of roads across the region - saving thousands of old tyres fr...om ending up in landfill each year and making local roads safer. Our bitumen resealing program uses bitumen that is blended with crumb rubber produced from old tyres, which is more elastic, durable and crack-resistant - increasing the longevity of the road. A bitumen reseal involves spraying a thin layer of bitumen over an existing old road surface to protect the underlying pavement from weather damage. Generally a reseal will extend the life of a road by 8-14 years, and provides a new surface texture which increases skid resistance for vehicles and makes our roads safer. In the 2019/20 financial year, about 362,000 litres of crumb rubber bitumen was sprayed on roads in 54 locations throughout Hervey Bay, Maryborough and rural areas of the Fraser Coast region. The bitumen reseal program prevented the equivalent of almost 5700 old tyres ending up in landfill, which is a great result for our roads, a great result for motorists and a great result for the environment.

Shelly was very clear in her assessment of my house and was very helpful in her knowledge of the process in selling my house. She also helped me find my new home, taking me to see several of the homes in Hazelmere village, until I found the one which suited me. Shelly also helped me sell several of my pieces of furniture as I am not on Facebook and helped me dispose of things to the dump. She was also a lifesaver when I was cleaning up my house.
