24.01.2022 I think most of us will agree, 2020 has sucked. For us, I thought a season with no foals at least had the upside of no unexpected vet bills over foaling season - seems I jinxed myself there! Horses doing all sorts of stupid things over the last few months, usually at 5pm on a Sunday I think the vets began to expect my call This Sunday it was D’ante’s turn as he was just not quite right. He is never one to miss his dinner, but that he did on Sunday so off to the clinic he w...ent with mild colic - better to be safe than sorry. D’ante has been on a float twice in the last seven years and off property the same number of times, but true to the temperament I so frequently talk about he loaded straight up and was on his best behaviour (excluding getting his temperature taken, he wasn’t a fan of that!). D’ante is now home and happy, though with the current rainy weather is probably wishing he was still in a box at the vets. I probably need to sell a kidney or alternatively a yearling or two - anyone Hopefully that’s it for us in 2020!
22.01.2022 Growing so nicely
21.01.2022 Facebook no longer permits advertising, but please don’t hesitate to inbox, two lovely foals and two outstanding yearlings looking for their future families
20.01.2022 Being a grown up and getting a rug this winter! Yes, he is a typical male and stuffing his face with food whilst he poses
19.01.2022 No foals for us this year, but the love doesn’t go away. Today I was so happy to be able to help this (not so little) guy, in the journey to find his forever home. He didn’t have the easiest start to life, but he had the best people in his corner and although others weren’t sure he was up for the battle, he has shown he is more than capable to win the war! Have a brilliant life Hercules, I don’t doubt you will be incredibly loved
19.01.2022 Oh hey there handsome who wouldn’t love to breed themselves something similar to this big kid
19.01.2022 SOLD I find taking any horse anywhere stressful baby horses multiple that by about 10! But this lovely yearling well and truly outdid herself today, first time off the property for her pre purchase, took everything in her stride and passed with flying colours! Sheoak Park La Vita Nuova today showed she truly has the brains to match her breeding and movement and I’m incredibly excited to watch her journey with Bridie unfold. She has been special since the day she was born and a very special future awaits
17.01.2022 Outside of horses, I love Psychology and have spent a lot of time reading about how trauma affects brain development in people. This blog relates similar theories to the equine brain and the proof is in the pudding - or brain structure so to speak. I’m the first to say D’ante stamps his offspring with a great temperament, but I also think the low stress, trauma free upbringing we offer creates young horses who can work through problems rather than react defensively. *note, when I say trauma I don’t necessarily mean abuse, I mean prolonged stress inducing situations (this could be as simple as early weaning for some).
13.01.2022 Cute almost two year old anyone?
12.01.2022 People may have noticed less photos of my favourite foal of the year, not because I love her any less but because a couple of months ago Zali went to her new home. Zali’s mum is so incredibly special to me, and each of her foals has a very special place in my heart. Currently they are both living in Zali’s new home so Zali can prep for foal shows, then Indi will come home Thank you to Jade for sharing these incredible photos with me, and for the amazing Katherine Jamieson Photography for taking them. Certainly a few to go in a frame!
11.01.2022 Temperament. Trainability. Versatility. I think these are the three things that genuinely set our foals and young stock apart (and of course their good looks ). I get many updates about what the foals we have sold are doing, and almost all include the line of they were so calm/relaxed or something along those lines. Beach trips, forest trips and liberty are just a few of the things these kids have embraced - before even turning three! I’ve attached photos of a number of ou...r past foals enjoying life in their new home, just to give an idea of their willingness to give anything a go! So if your looking for a Warmblood to take beyond just the dressage arena, seriously consider one of our young stock - and if you plan to stay in the dressage arena, that’s ok because they are incredibly impressive in there as well! All of these photos are of horses aged 3 or under, those under saddle have been so for only a month or two thanks to their owners for allowing snippets of their journey to be shared!
11.01.2022 Would love people to jump over and like my photo (Louise love) of Indi and Immy in the comments sections, got to be in it to win it, and those two certainly are winners
11.01.2022 It’s no secret I love this horse Teddy aka Sheoak Park Riegal Legacy is a week back under saddle and going brilliantly! Hopefully 2021 will be an exciting year for him with some competitions, training to collect and the possibility of standing at stud for the 2021/2022 season. My big baby is nearly a grown up as a 4 year old In addition, a good start is so important and we can’t thank Arlene enough for giving him just that! Hopefully this sets them up for a long and successful partnership. Anyone lucky enough to have their horse started by Arlene will not be disappointed!
10.01.2022 The three T’s. Type. Temperament. Trainability. D’ante ticks all of those boxes! Not many stallions you can let out to mow the lawns, just a strand of tape on two sides
10.01.2022 Because I’m not busy enough, I also foster puppies for an amazing animal rescue group, Chally Animal Rescue. Chally is in the running to win some much needed funding, to help puppies like my current foster, Pea, find homes! We would really appreciate if you could spare two minutes to vote https://savourlife50kwinter.pgtb.me/SjWVmc
08.01.2022 Normally we would be feeling the apprehension of foaling season right about now, but after Indi slipped what can only be described as perfection in the shape of a black filly with four stockings and a blaze two months ago, we have nothing due I will be following with even greater anticipation the arrival of outside mare babies this year! We do have a few youngstock available, not actively advertised. Nothing under saddle though - they don’t last that long Our books are full to mid October, with a number of early bookings, if you are considering putting your mare to D’ante this season, please get in touch soon to avoid disappoint!
08.01.2022 Teddy got his own rug, that wasn’t a hand me down to celebrate becoming a grown up just in time for some horrible Victorian winter weather! He’s pretty sure he would make a good model
08.01.2022 Commitment to the old. Our page is often filled with beautiful babies, their whole lives ahead of them who I take the upmost of care to ensure find their forever homes. Forever is important, because one day it will be time for them to retire and I really want them all to get the twighlight years they deserve This is Kenny, she’s featured once or twice, usually in the role of super nanny. She had a very busy life prior to us purchasing her and her body is old beyond it’s 28... years. She can’t eat hay any more and eats more hard feed than the other 15 combined on a daily basis, but she’s happy and getting the twighlight years she deserves. Commitment to the cute foals and competitive horses, but don’t forget commitment to the eventual retiree
08.01.2022 The face of a large horse, who has had enough of a very small (bot fly ) problem. Bot fly is now dead and Teddy is happy (image two). I love this horse
08.01.2022 There’s no doubting the last couple of months have been a little crazy, equally as crazy for us is the fact it’s rained - a few times! This time last year we were still a dust bowl. We won’t be breaking any grass records, but green grass and blue sky are good for the soul
07.01.2022 This handsome man is Woody (DeNiro/Weltmeyer) Woody likes to play in fences, don’t be like Woody Luckily there is no structural damage, however there will be a scar, for this reason Woody is now reduced and exceptional value for someone with dressage aspirations, mature approximately 16hh
06.01.2022 Well 2020 was a very quiet year for us with foaling - a non evident to be exact! However 2021 looks to be a busy one, with final heartbeat scans revealing some very exciting babies on the way! 1. Highhaven Park Welts Emperor (Indi) x AW Kasperrado D’ante - this is a favourite repeat cross 2. Revelwood Witness x AW Kasperrado D’ante - again, these babies are farm favourites! The next three are all first time crosses, including a new outside stallion ... 3. Quattro (Jive Magic) x AW Kasperrado D’ante 4. SWS Regaliaa x Amaranda Migaloo - should be perfect pony dressage height and either palomino, buckskin, or Smokey black. 5. Sheoak Park Silent Witness x Amaranda Migaloo - again coloured babies only and hopefully pony dressage height. We bred Summer but an accident as a foal left her as a broodmare sound, very excited for this baby - photo of baby Summer included! Bring on September 2021
05.01.2022 The handsome man himself AW Kasperrado D’ante
04.01.2022 green shoots (not quiet grass) and one pretty pony, brilliant autumn day!
03.01.2022 I’m not usually a chestnut fan, but this kid is pretty special! Sheoak Park Surprise Witness
03.01.2022 Not often we have grass like this, but the horses don’t complain when we do!
02.01.2022 Last years season got away from us, this year I WILL be more organised (famous last words!). Lots of outside mares due, and books are filling early for this season. But for us, only one foal due, out of my favourite mare. This might just be the year I can’t resist keeping whatever pops out
02.01.2022 Ever tried taking photos of yearlings who just want to follow you, aren’t really scared by anything and tend to look half asleep most of the time? That’s what I’ve just been doing, with no success I’ve got two D’ante yearlings for sale, both geldings, to mature around 16hh. I had planned to hang onto them and sell under saddle as they are both somewhat ugly ducklings at the minute, however my vet bills these last few months say this isn’t really feasible so if you want to start 2021 the right way with a lovely yearling in the paddock, send me a message - grab a great New Year buy (we will call it a Boxing Day sale )
02.01.2022 And so, the journey begins for Teddy to become a real horse. What a partnership this will be
02.01.2022 Oh hey there handsome! This big baby has been a super star during the beginnings of his saddle career! If only I had a decent camera to capture the process. Not long and he will go out for a well earned rest
