22.01.2022 This is the deadly Aunty Dr Sue Atkinson. She is a Yorta Yorta woman, an early childhood teacher and an activist. Dr Atkinson is the first Aboriginal early chi...ldhood teacher to achieve a PhD. Dr Atkinson is widely published in academic journals and books, professional literature, curriculum and children's books - written both in English and Yorta Yorta. Her contributions span over 40 years (though she doesn't look a day over 21!). Dr Atkinson has always been generous in giving her time to teach and lead critical conversations about race and racism, inclusion and diversity, reconciliation and treaty. Her beautiful and powerful work should be acknowledged more and more often when we lean into it to shape our work. Dr Atkinson sits on numerous committees and has a significant impact on educational and social policy. She has relentlessly advocated for equity in education for decades. She has a delightfully wicked sense of humour and is an incredible role model. We honour and acknowledge her today (though you have probably noticed she's my first port of call for knowledge every time) as an early childhood elder and inspiration. She has had huge impact on many of us over the years in ways that has changed who we are, what we do and how we work together with Indigenous perspectives in early childhood for equity and social justice. Thank you Aunty Dr Sue for all of your incredible contributions. We love you

14.01.2022 NAIDOC Week is about recognising Indigenous excellence and honouring the Aboriginal folks who have enabled us to undertake socially just work in early childhood.... This is the fabulous Aunty Tracey Linn Bostock at the filming of the Play School Acknowledgement of Country episode 2019. She has led many many of us for over 25 years in bringing Aboriginal perspectives into early childhood. We cant think of anyone she hasn't inspired or mentored. She is the person who has created the contemporary songline that we now know as an Acknowledgement of Country that touches the ground, reaches for the sky and touches our hearts. Many of us use this or a version of it in our practices without knowing it’s history. We acknowlege her as the national creator of this beautiful Acknowledgment of Country - and of those in early childhood because it has transformed so many children’s lives and ours... and continues to... Aunty Tracey L. Bostock we love and honour you... #alwayswasalwayswillbe

09.01.2022 Sunshine Beach State School organised their Aboriginal students to spend the day with me to create these Gabayindah Poles. These Thank You poles say thank you t...o the Water, Mother Earth and Father Sky. The things that we need for survival. Whilst painting we were able to reflect on the greedy, destructive society we are brought up in, and all of the things that we are lead to believe that we need - but don't. We obviously need to give thanks and protection to our Water, Mother Earth and Father Sky. #aboriginal #aboriginalart #naidoc #naidocweek #mural #totempole See more
