24.01.2022 We are so grateful for the support that Diverse Builders have been providing Shepparton Foodshare for the past four years. With their support as monthly partners during July we were able to provide the equivalent of almost 127,000 meals to people who needed a hand to feed themselves or their families. Thank you to Neil, Fiona and the Diverse team your support of Shepparton Foodshare directly benefits our community.

19.01.2022 Shepparton Foodshare was so grateful to be one of the agencies that received a share of the 100,000 meals made by the RACV to support people in need. With the RACV Club temporally closed last year due to the COVID pandemic, they used the opportunity to respond to community need. Beginning in March, the RACV’s emergency goods assist service delivered the meals to vulnerable communities affected by COVID-19 across Victoria. To find out more, please watch this WIN News Shepparton story.

17.01.2022 We were so pleased to receive 100 pre-packaged meals from Food Link this week. These ready made meals, that have been made by The Little Gourmet Food Company, are the ideal heat and eat, to distribute to local people in need via the agencies that collect our food. The Food Link initiative was established to support the local community during the COVID-19 crisis. The concept is to raise funds to pay local hospitality businesses who have been negatively impacted by the pandemic, to make meals for people who are doing it tough also as a result of the pandemic.

16.01.2022 Pasta is the ideal base to make a hearty meal around. We were wrapped to receive a donation of 200 kilos of pasta from local manufacturer of premium Organic and Gluten free pastas, Casalare Pty Ltd in Kyabram - Thank You.

14.01.2022 It was such a lovely surprise to receive a call from Burke Britton Financial Partners recently advising that Shepparton Foodshare will again be a recipient of a donation as part of their annual giving program. Foodshare is one of ten charities to each receive a much needed donation of $12,416 this month. This is the second year we have received a generous donation from Burke Britton. These much needed funds will go a long way to supporting our daily operational costs - Thank You!

13.01.2022 We received another 100 pre-packed meals from Food Link this week, thank you! The Food Link meals program was established in response to the COVID-19 crisis affecting many families, businesses and others in the Greater Shepparton region. Food Link raises funds to pay local catering businesses who are doing it tough during the pandemic, to make meals for people who are doing it tough! This week's meals have been made by the The Little Gourmet Food Company and are the ideal 'heat and eat' to be distributed to the most vulnerable in our community via the agencies that collect food from Foodshare.

A heartfelt thank you to you all, this 560 kilograms of food and hygiene products will assist hundreds of local people in need.... Pictured is one of the donors Ken and Foodshare volunteer Al.

12.01.2022 Wishing our Operations Coordinator, Grace, the happiest of Birthdays. We celebrated her birthday a day early yesterday with a cake made by volunteer, and cake maker extraordinaire, Paul!

11.01.2022 All of the donations from last week lined up, all 92 kilos, dropped into our various donation points around town Thank You If you would like to donate in the coming weeks, please consider donating a Christmas treat for us to include in our food boxes that will be distributed to people in need during December. It would be lovely for those receiving our food boxes to receive a Christmas cake, pudding, sweets, shortbread or mince tarts to enjoy during the Christmas period.

10.01.2022 "Alone we can do so little; Together we can do so much." - Helen Keller Last week across our various food and personal hygiene product donation collection points we received a very generous 102 kilos of fdonations. Thank you so much to all who made a donation at our collection points across town, every little contribution makes a big difference.

09.01.2022 Reducing waste is so important to us! Each year we prevent more than 300,000 kilograms of edible food from going to landfill. This quality food provides around 600,000 meals to people in need. There is a small amount of the food that we rescue each week that is not fit for human consumption however there is another use for it, it is ideal for stock feed the waste stream is our last resort!... The local farmer that we had collecting our food waste no longer requires it so we are seeking another farmer to collect this each week. If you, or anyone you know would like to help us reduce waste whilst feeding their stock please message us. Please note we don’t have the resources to separate the produce into smaller lots therefore one weekly pick up is preferred.

08.01.2022 Around 500 kilograms of pasta donated! Pasta is ideal to build a filling meal around but it can be difficult for us to source. This year however we have been lucky to have the support of local producer, Casalare Pty Ltd who have provided us with several generous donations of their gluten free pasta varieties. Thanks for your ongoing support Casalare!

08.01.2022 We had a visit from Lorraine from the Goulburn Valley Motor Vehicle Drivers Club last week. The local Club kindly donated 8 kilos of frozen meat which is always difficult for us to source however very much needed.

07.01.2022 Volunteer Al, testing out our new wheels! Our walk-behind forklift has served us well over the years however with almost 400,000 kilos of food being received and distributed at our busy warehouse last year, it was time for an automated up-grade! This quality second-hand forklift was purchased with grant monies received from Perpetual's IMPACT Philanthropy 2020 grant round. The forklift will be a wonderful additional to our operations as it will significantly improve operational efficiencies, occupational health and safety procedures, self-sustainability and is capacity building for our growing service.

06.01.2022 Another member of the Foodshare family is having a birthday ... Happy Birthday Paul, hope its a good one.

03.01.2022 The generosity of people within our community never ceases to amaze us. So many kind people that are ready and willing to help out others who are doing it tough. Pictured is Alan who dropped by this week with this donation of 7 kilos of cereal, pasta, pasta sauce and snacks. These items will be packed into our food boxes and will make such a difference to two local families. Thanks for your contribution Alan.

02.01.2022 81 kilograms of food collected by Foodshare volunteers from our various food donation points around town this week - Thank You!

02.01.2022 Yes, that is another rainbow coming from our warehouse! This week SPC generously donated another 20.5 pallets of their 'rainbow' cans, aka baked beans, spaghetti, tomatoes and fruit. These canned varieties are the perfect addition to our food boxes to support local people in need. ... Nothing goes to waste here at Foodshare, if we ever have any excess cans we swap them with other regional food rescue agencies for items that we may be in short supply of such as cereal. This reciprocal network of food rescue agencies means that we can swap food items so that we all have a variety of food for people in need. Another wonderful example of what can be achieved when we all work together!

01.01.2022 Face masks have been a part of our uniform for the past six months. Well before they were mandatory we made the call to wear them at Foodshare to help keep everyone safe. When setting our annual budget for operations, masks however were not anticipated but we have been so very fortunate to have masks donated by various organisations and individuals. Last week Susan from Greater Shepparton City Council helped us out with 150 disposable masks and 20 cloths masks. Thanks for dropping by Susan and thank you Council for your ongoing support of Shepparton Foodshare.
