22.01.2022 The win of Aussiepride in the maiden at Maryborough for owner/driver Paula Martin was more significant than people would know. Several years ago a full disposal of the stock from Neil Brady's farm was listed for the Echuca Sales complex. The disposal, at that time, drew the attention of authorities, liberationists and the harness community. ... HRV through John Anderson developed a plan to save these horses and committed to funding the purchase of those not meeting their price. One very small weanling caught the attention of Paula Martin who was living in Invergordon at the time which ensured he had a good home to go to. Years later that tiny weanling raced as Aussiepride and won in good style with Paula taking the drive. What an amazing story as to how life changed for this little fellow and so well done to Paula for the vision at the time and the work she has put into getting the win. Great effort.

22.01.2022 THANKS JIM VASEY Noted with interest today that renowned vet Jim Vasey has retired after what seems an eternity providing such professional care. Jim has been fantastic for the harness industry working his miracles on the lame and unwell horses for many years. His work ethic has been stunning providing care to horses from all states not just at the local level.... I am sure all the harness participants join the harness club in expressing our best wishes to Jim and Libby going forward and appreciating the assistance he has provided.

21.01.2022 GREAT NEWS GREAT NEWS GREAT NEWS Effective from December 17: Owners are permitted to attend the horse stalls at Victorian harness race and trial meetings. There will no longer be restrictions placed on the number of stablehands permitted to attend racetracks with licensed trainers. Physical distancing measures remain in place, face masks must be carried at all times and should be worn when physical distancing requirements cannot be met and if requested to do so by the Stewards.

18.01.2022 What an incredibly tough time this Covid virus has meant for so many people and businesses in our region. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to all club sponsors who we hope can survive these tragic times. One of those great long term sponsors Central Tyre Service has been hit very hard after staff tested positive through no fault of their own. It would be so good if all the industry got right behind Central Tyre Services when they can reopen. They have supported the industr...y so let's ensure we contact them for any tyre needs. Support of our sponsors is critical. See what we can do.

17.01.2022 No surprise to anyone that the Goulburn Valley bred, owned, trained or driven horses dominated the Breeders Crown night at Melton on Saturday night. First up Hurricane Harley bred and owned by Bill and Anne Anderson proved too slick for Lochinvar Art. Amanda Turnbull produced a gem of a drive to win. Cracker Jet was a brave third in the 3yo trot final for trainer Patrick Ryan.... Major Moth could not have been more impressive in winning the 2yo colts final with Damian Wilson in the cart. Great to see The Panthiest win at long odds for Merrigum breeder /owner Greg Pell in the 3yo fillies final. Fantastic run by Jemsoms Pet to run third in the 3yo final for Craig and Abbey Turnbull but more importantly a real boost for owner Greg Lewis who has endured more than most these past few months. David Moran was at his best when piloting Ladies in Red to win the fillies final again for Bill and Anne Anderson. Tough Tilly was game in defeat for Numurkah breeders Benstud in that same race. No Win No Feed who has been stabled at Shepparton for trainer Craig Cross was ultra impressive in winning on the feature night. For all those results happiest of all would have been Alabar who stallions sired 5 of the winners and sired the dams of 3 other winners on an amazing night. What a night for the Goulburn Valley.

17.01.2022 TRAINERS PLEASE NOTE The club has had a number of enquiries about trialing yearlings. Shepparton will conduct a trial tonight for the "babies" looking to qualify if numbers warrant. The yearlings will trial over 1690M... Nominations close with HRV today at noon.

14.01.2022 All trainers and rivers should take note that the stewards will relocate to the old stewards room from Thursday night's meeting on. Changes to the Covid bio security is the basis for the change back to the old rooms.

14.01.2022 Whilst we are on junior drivers how good was it to see four young drivers starting their qualifying trials in the past week of so. Cody Crossland, Corey O'Donoghue, Mitch Rowney and Harry O'Neill have all passed their test to get their licences. They are all enthusiastic kids who all need to be supported throughout their trial process. If you are looking for a trial driver please make sure you give these boys some consideration.

13.01.2022 How good was it to see young Ryan Sanderson back in the cart again. After an horrendous fall at Charlton he has done an amazing job to be back in the cart so soon. Welcome back Ryan.

03.01.2022 Covid safe plan CONSIDERATIONS FOR DINING BOOKINGS & GENERAL PUBLIC. Attendee records Attendance must be via a ticketed registration system. Contact register of attendees will be maintained and retained for 28 days as per Government requirements. Attendee Screening All attendees are to be screened for symptoms of COVID-19 via a series of questions. Patrons will be required to fill out a form on entry to the complex on the night of booking (this may include temperatu...re checks). All patrons must have a wrist band at all times. Separation with public and essential personnel - There must be clear separation between essential racing personnel and the public. There will be barriers and/or security to ensure that dining patrons and the general public are not interacting with essential personnel (i.e.- trainers, drivers, stable hands and race day staff). This includes horse owners. Limited attendee movement - Attendees should only leave allocated seats to go to the bathroom, purchase food or drinks or to exit the premise. Attendees are not permitted to move to the fence line to cheer on their horse. Patrons may order from the bar but all drinks must be consumed while seated at your allocated table. Attendees seating arrangements - All attendees must be seated at all times (no standing or roaming permitted) for the duration of the event. This will be established by providing chairs for seating (preferable option) or by painting markers on the grass. Picnic or pod seated areas may also be set up on the grass or other suitable areas. Seating should maintain social distancing (1.5 metre distances between people). Multiple Zones - Multiple zones within the event area will be used to limit interaction between groups of attendees. Bathroom and other facilities will be assigned to zones (e.g. allocated bathrooms to specific zone). Exit and Entry points Multiple entry and exit points should be established to ensure smooth attendee flow into the venue. Staggered entry / exit may also be practiced to avoid queuing. Hygiene and social distancing Hygiene practices and social distancing must be maintained at all times. As per Government direction, masks must be worn when not seated as per hospitality guidelines. 03.01.2022 Thoughts and best wishes go out to promising young driver Ryan Sanderson who was injured in a nasty fall at Charlton yesterday. The fall brought the meeting to an abrupt end whilst Ryan received medical support before being transferred to hospital. Ryan's family travelled from NSW to be at his side which will be a real boost.... Hopefully Ryan can make a complete recovery from these bad injuries and be right back doing as well as he was real soon.
