So please be extremely careful when driving during this time of the year as road conditions change being wet. Number one; stay off the phone, the biggest distraction while driving; don’t drink drive and try not to go over the speed limit, watch your speed.

24.01.2022 Good morning to all of our followers. In these different times at the moment, let us all remember those who lost their lives to protect this country by standing at 11am where ever you are to give a little respect to the ones who did not make it home.

23.01.2022 COVID might have slowed a few things down, but not serious collisions and road deaths. Comparatively speaking, whilst there was a slight reduction, it really did not correspond with the reduction of traffic during lockdown.

18.01.2022 Last year 198 people were killed or died from the result of road collisions. This year, there has been 157 deaths on Victorian roads. It's September and School holidays are present and with a lot of country roads being used again, Shepparton Search and Rescue Squad, would like to see everyone drive safely while travelling. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2613941732205804&id=1686307644969222

17.01.2022 Let us remember those who lost their lives to keep this country of ours safe. In these times at the moment, at 11am; stand where ever you are and remember them.

16.01.2022 Great story in the Shepp News today to do with Emergency Services Grant funding. I'm sure many many people in our area would not be aware that Shepparton Search & Rescue Squad does not receive funding from the State or Federal Government unless we are successful with one of these grants? Feedback tells us that some people in our Community think that we are paid. ... Whilst that makes us Super Proud of the professional service we provide, we are ALL Volunteers. But with that comes the question. How do we get our funding? Well, a lot of it is support from the Greater Shepparton City Council, Local Service Groups and Philanthropic Org's like The Copulus Family, but we also rely heavily on the support of our local community members to donate when ever they can. Head to our website to find out how!

16.01.2022 Hello everyone, we need your help in seeking cars that are no longer required and just sitting in your/someone else's yard being a nuisance, taking up space that we could use for our Road Rescue Training. If you do or know of someone or you have one, send us a message via this page and we will get back to you.

13.01.2022 Over the weekend, Shepparton Search & Rescue Squad Inc received a number of phone calls to our Dudley St facility regarding trees down over roads. So, If you need our assistance, refer to the poster below for information on how and when to contact us.... In an Emergency / Life Threatening Situation, always dial "000" To get assistance for Flooding and Storm Damage, dial "132500" We'll always do our best to be there. Please pass this along to your friends and family.

09.01.2022 If you are out and about in the bush with a lot trees around you, be very careful where you park or set up your camp site. https://www.facebook.com//pcb.393489481/3934891743199945/

06.01.2022 Hi everyone. With the prediction of high rain falls in some areas throughout the Goulburn Valley, it is predicted there could be some minor flood levels in river and creek systems over the next week. We ask that everyone who are close to these systems keep watch on your surrounding area.

06.01.2022 Hello to everyone; we want to say thank you to all of you for such a huge response for offering cars to our call for our training. We have now been donated 4 cars to use in Road Crash Training from various people around the district and we thank them very much. At this point, we are now at our holding capacity in our yard and cannot take any more cars at this stage. But if you do have a car that you don't want or know of one in the future, please keep us in mind. Again a big thank you from our members.

05.01.2022 Deadly trends on Victorian Roads Tuesday, 18 August 2020 10:22 Victoria Police is urging road users to be safe and responsible after a disappointing and deadly ...few weeks. Despite there being far less vehicles on Victorian roads due to the current coronavirus pandemic, 23 lives have been lost since the start of July. Road Policing Command Assistant Commissioner Libby Murphy said there were dangerous trends emerging. Since there has been less cars on the road, we are seeing people treat the highways like a speedway, she said. It is extremely concerning and dangerous not just for the offending driver - they place all road users in harm’s way. Victoria Police analysis suggests speed factors are a likely issue in about 40 per cent of road collisions. AC Murphy said there were also growing issues involving motorcyclists. We are seeing an increase in the number of serious collisions involving motorcycles, both off road and on road, she said. In about 60 per cent of fatal motorcycle collisions we are seeing the motorcyclist as the party at fault. It is crucial that motorcyclists ride to the conditions and their experience. One motorcyclist was killed after losing control while travelling in convoy with a second motorcyclist in Mount Martha on 1 August. Drugs and alcohol continue to be a prominent factor in serious road collisions. Assistant Commissioner Murphy said other issues included distractions, particularly people looking at their mobile phones, and fatigue. We are seeing a trend of single-vehicle crashes where the vehicle comes off the road, especially in regional areas, she said. Fatigue is something that everybody needs to be aware of and take the responsibility to manage before they get behind the wheel. A 27-year-old Shepparton man was killed in the early hours of 13 August after the car he was driving veered off the road and crashed into a tree. Assistant Commissioner Murphy said all Victorian road users needed to remain conscious of their responsibilities on the road, drive to the conditions and stay safe.

04.01.2022 See here our President Michael D'Elia talking about "Bag it, Block it, Lift it and Leave" - Really no different to the messages given in bushfire season when it comes to being prepared and making the decision to leave early. Please feel free to share this far and wide and also feel free to donate to Shepparton Search & Rescue Squad Inc to assist us to fundraise to write our 50th Year History, due in 2022. Donations of $2 and more are tax deductible.... https://www.sheppartonrescue.com.au/13-general/7-donations See more

03.01.2022 Shepparton Search and Rescue Squad along with our colleages of the SES; would like to see everyone who are travelling home this weekend from School holidays, to be very careful driving on the roads. Be safe Stay safe.

03.01.2022 Sadly, another life lost on our roads last night, with one person critical and another taken to GV Base. Shepparton Search & Rescues Squad members pass on our sincere condolences, thoughts and best wishes to the families of those involved. Please be careful on our roads and consider the consequences of poor decisions. Even with COVID19 restrictions our lives lost on Victorian roads is far to high.... Non of us want you to be the person that answers the door to news like this, so talk to your family and friends. Help us to make everyone understand the reality of Road Trauma. #TowardsZero #WeWorkAsOne

03.01.2022 Check out today's Shepparton News where the Knight Street Multi-Age Learning Centre and their new sign is featured. Great to see fun news making headlines at this time when people really need more reasons to smile and just fantastic to see all the kids and the adults learning together about Emergency Services and what we do in the community. Have an awesome day!!

03.01.2022 With the easing of restrictions we are expecting an increase in Traffic on the roads and holiday makers heading away for well earnt breaks. Many of you will be towing caravans and large trailers. This video is a very good demonstration of the effects a poorly pack trailer and poor weight distribution can have on the overall steadiness of the Tow Vehicle and combined stability of your set up.... As you can see, poor weight distribution makes it very easy to loose control. What a lot of people do not realise is that it makes your whole trip harder as you need higher concentration levels to maintain control and a steady speed over long distances. This can then lead to errors due to fatigue. So please, Think about your trip. Plan your regular stops, think about how you pack you vehicles. and most of all...... Arrive Alive!!

01.01.2022 Great report on WIN TV by Morgan Dyer tonight. Fantastic to have this type of support from our Local Media. This is the biggest reason that we can see that we need regional TV and Regional News.

01.01.2022 Our community is important, and with the number of Covid 19 cases in the Greater Shepparton area at the moment; we are asking everyone to be vigilant with personal hygiene and social distancing. Stay safe everyone.

01.01.2022 Today is "R U OK?" day. That does not mean that today is the only day of the year that we ask people if they are Ok, but today is about raising awareness in the community so that people are more aware of the things they can do when they are worried about a close friend, work acquaintance or family member. Did you know that members of the Defence Forces, Returned Service Personnel and Emergency Services Staff and Volunteers are some of the highest risk people in our society f...or these events? If you think that someone is at risk of self harm or suicide, what would you do. Whatever you do, DON'T do nothing. Say hello, start talking, ask them if they are OK and really listen to their answers. Below are some tips from the Black Dog Institute on how to do it, what too listen for and what to watch for. #WSPD2020 #RUOK? #WeWorkAsOne
