12.01.2022 STADIUM SEATING UPDATE On Friday 2nd October, after many months of organising, the new grandstand and portable seating arrived at the new stadium at Upwey High School. Hundreds of pieces had to be manually unloaded from a 40’ container. After each person walked approx. 22kms and worked for around 11 hours over three days, the container was finally emptied. All the pieces had to be carried from the road level down to the courts. When laid out like a giant jigsaw set the pie...ces ran along the width of two courts (both ends and down one side). The next challenge in coming weeks will be to assemble the jigsaw into a 350-seat grandstand and 12 portable seating sets each seating 15 people. Volunteers will be appreciated when the time comes, watch this space! Thanks to Pam, Michael, Mick, John, Chad and Luke for their hard work and sore feet.

12.01.2022 STADIUM SEATING UPDATE - #3 It's been another very busy day at the stadium! Chad, Luke, Michael, Pam and Vanessa were on site today, continuing on with assembling the flooring for the grandstand, and also unpacking the seats and attaching the mounting brackets to them (all 370 of them!!). Then we started on moving the seats into position, and securing them in place.... Building a grandstand is a massive job, but it's coming along nicely - we'll have people back on site again on Saturday - stay tuned for the next update!

09.01.2022 STADIUM SEATING UPDATE - #4 ** IT'S FINISHED! ** The new grandstand at Upwey High School has been assembled and is ready to go! With only a bit of electrical work still to be completed to allow the stand to travel, all is ready and raring to go for the next season of basketball.... It looks absolutely fabulous, and once the season starts and we have games up and running again, and the grandstand packed with our SUNS family and friends, the new home for the Sherbrooke Basketball Association will really be complete. Thanks to everyone who offered their assistance along the way - again, this was a real SUNS effort. Go SUNS!!

08.01.2022 ** TOP PRIORITY - registration of players/coaches/assistant coaches/team managers into VJBL teams on the PlayHQ site must be completed by 15th Jan - link to be emailed to players by Pam. ** We hope our SUNS family had a happy and safe Christmas and New Year, and that you're all ready and raring to go for season 2021! Please see below SUNS News for 11th January 2021, and the training schedule for Upwey Stadium, commencing Sunday 17th January 2021.

05.01.2022 Good morning SUNS family - how good was it to get back out on court?! We'd love to hear how your team went last night - leave a note in the comments to let us know the results! Just confirming that training is on tomorrow morning as scheduled below. Go SUNS!!

04.01.2022 STADIUM SEATING UPDATE - #2 The story continues! After the unloading of the new stadium seating last weekend, we moved into assembly mode this weekend after obtaining the necessary approvals. The portable tip & roll seating has now been completed - this will seat 180 people in 12 sets of 15. The main stadium grandstand that will seat 370 people is nearly complete. Most of the assembly has been done, with the electrical, flooring and seats still to go. With the grand...stand opened up and the portable seating in place around the court, it really looks like a basketball stadium - even Chad Burton was sitting up in the stand waiting for the basketball to start again! Thanks to all who have helped with the work so far - this has been a real SUNS effort.
