22.01.2022 I love this article. I used to work for an online marketplace who had a large array of products - like Amazon - so when Amazon hit Australia, we took a look to see if there was anything we could learn from the way they worked. As a website manager, I hated it.... I found the search very inefficient to use, I could never find the products I was looking for, there was too much error in the details of each product so I never trusted anything - it just seemed like a big old mess! eBay, which was (and may still be?) the biggest online marketplace in AU before Amazon, has a similar crazy amount of products but it’s infinitely easier to use. Their search is more accurate, their categories actually give you the products you’re looking for, and their reviews instill much more trust in the product you’re buying. Maybe it’s also the awful way Amazon treat their employees, or their distinct form of capitalism that’s destroying the world, but I never was and never will be a fan of Amazon.



21.01.2022 See that closed lock icon? That little guy is a big deal! It means that you can share your data with the site safely, as it encrypts any information you enter. The data can’t be interrupted or stolen between browser and server. This doesn’t mean your data will always be stolen if you enter it into a non-secure site, but it means that if someone tried to steal your data from that site, it would be much easier for them.... We’ve done a lot of work on the Atomic Gym site to make sure it’s in its safest, most secure state for all their clientele.

16.01.2022 Although a lot of what I do for my clients does come down to design, and having an eye for what looks good and what doesn’t, it’s not actually my main area of expertise. When I feel like I could use a hand, I reach out to my friends who are professionally trained in this area. @array_still provided me the below guide when I was struggling to find a way to incorporate a colourful logo into a page design - and it’s been a god send. I’ve used it as my bible throughout the entir...e build. Design can sometimes seem like common sense, but I can absolutely tell you it takes a lot of hard work, practice and training!

16.01.2022 It’s been a busy few weeks over here! In the last few days we’ve launched our site for JusTaskNan , a concierge and personal assistant service. The build included a detailed homepage, and 4 other pages - About Us, Testimonals, Services and Contact Us.... This was a fun & interesting project for a number of reasons. 1. It’s my first full build on Wordpress. While not always my first choice, it’s a platform many people are familiar with, and because it’s so popular you have a huge array of choices for plugins and themes. 2. I had creative control over the copywriting, so I was able to take Nan’s notes on her services and vision, and make it perfect for the digital format. Site copy always works MUCH better when you write it around your site structure, rather than taking what you already have and trying to make it fit. 3. Nan was an incredibly friendly, organised and helpful client to work with. It speaks volumes to how valuable she’s going to be for her future clients! Check out the site: www.justasknan.com.au



14.01.2022 Coming out of COVID restrictions and heading into a new world for retail, hospitality and service, Atomic Gym in Epping were keen to open their doors on June 22nd. However as Victorian restrictions only allow 20 people inside the gym at any one time, they were facing issues of how to manage time slots for a member base in the hundreds. They were looking for a quick yet effective solution that would allow their members to make a booking (at any time of the day or night) for p...re-determined time slots, yet would also cap each session to 20 people. We implemented a booking plugin that listed conditions for entry, allowed members to only make 1 booking per day (to keep it fair), limited each time slot to only 20 bookings, and allowed payments to be made online. As this booking calendar will no longer need to be used once the person limit is lifted again, we didn't bother with embedding it into their site - COVID is agile and we need to be too. Atomic Gym will start taking bookings for the 22nd in the coming days, and will be able to operate efficiently and effectively while still meeting all health regulation standards. www.atomicgym.com.au

13.01.2022 Bel has a great social media following, but was looking to add a little more oomph to her existing Wordpress website. We started by making her website navigation more clear so that customers could more easily find the products they were looking for. Secondly, we added an interactive map to her Contact Us page so it was easier to find the gym she trains clients at.... Finally, to drive lead generation and make sure her customers know how to get in touch with her, we designed & implemented this pop-up. It appears on site after a small delay, allowing users to read and invest before being prompted to enter their email. 12.01.2022 I would like to give a HUGE thank you to the sheer amount of humans who have recommended me to their friends, spoke about me to their families and generally spread the word! The amount of enquiries I’ve had recently has been massive, and unfortunately as I'm only one person who builds websites outside of their 9-5, I’m not able to help everyone. 12.01.2022 My fave kind of post - another website launch! @lucinda_keily is an incredibly talented fitness professional who wanted to expand her brand - @foreverfit_transformations - online. She needed a straight to the point, easy to navigate site that directed all her traffic to her conversion point - her newly created eBook.... As you can see this site is filled with stunning visuals, all shot by @fd.media. It’s amazing how much having bespoke media really lifts the profile of a site - stock imagery can get the job done, but it just doesn’t have near the same majesty. He also provided the blueprints for the site layout and colour scheme so that it would fit perfectly with her eBook. 12.01.2022 We have a new launch! I really loved putting this site together as it was for a close friend of mine. She has so much passion & skill in her area, and needed a site that portrayed how much knowledge she has. Once you visit you’ll see how content heavy it is - she has a lot of information to get to her users. This is, I feel, one of the best uses of a website - making it a one stop shop for important information that would be hard to navigate/constantly communicate via social ...media. Cassandra wrote all the copy herself and provided some imagery, as well as gave me an idea of what colours she likes, and I used this feedback to build it out. When you have this much text it’s important to break it up with imagery, CTAs and graphics. The result is a site that gives you everything you need to know about Cassandra, how she can help you, and directions on exactly what to do next if you wish to engage with her. 11.01.2022 We’ve done a complete overhaul of Taliha Paige's site! It’s been upgraded from the old design to one that matches her current branding, speaks to her audience, and directs focus to her core pillars. It was a great journey from conception to completion, with lots of realisations along the way of what she wanted from her site and for her brand. It can sometimes be hard to tell exactly what you’re after before you’ve started, and only when the product starts to develop can you ...see what your vision really is. We worked together to fine tune it into exactly what she wanted it to be. 10.01.2022 I caught up with Steve last Thursday morning and he had a single request - to have a site for his business live by Monday. That’s a tight timeline if there ever was one, but I was keen to take on the challenge. He provided me with the website copy, a brief overview of the colour theme and 1-2 lifestyle images, and I filled in the blanks from there.... We created a super simple yet effective one-pager that conveys all the important information about his business, and directs customers to the Call To Action (the Contact Form) at the bottom. I built this site using Webflow, my personal favourite when it comes to platforms. Unlike Wordpress, Shopify and the others, it’s extremely easy (and fast) to create custom designs without dabbling in any code. I didn’t have time to mess around with themes or HTML! 06.01.2022 Another launch close to my heart, this website was built for a member of my extended family for her financial services business Make Change Real Business Solutions. We started out with a vision for a quick one-pager, but slowly built up to a multi-pager with lots of important informational areas including Services, Testimonials and About. This was a bit of a design challenge for me, as the Make Change Real logo is very colourful and unique. Creating colour schemes and tying i...t into the whole site’s look proved initially difficult! With the final result, I’m confident I found a way to include the fun personality of the Make Change Real branding, while still effectively communicating the serious points about Myrella’s financial expertise.
