24.01.2022 Ok so its turns out no one really wants to be on my socials unedited. So here I am in what I guess could be described as a before and after. The reason I wanted to post this is to show the level of work that goes into your images after they have been photographed. The subtle editing often goes unnoticed (which is kind of the point). The thing is, if you cant see what goes on behind the scenes you often don't get valued for your efforts. Editing is a lengthy process and it do...ens't matter what you're shooting. Portraits for example get their fair share of editing love. After all you want your client to be portrayed in the best light (physically and metaphorically). One image can take anywhere from 5-20 minutes to edit depending on what's needed. Times that by 20 images and you are looking at roughly 3 hours or more of editing time alone. Then there is all the time it takes sending proofs, cropping for variety, uploading finished images, completing any further editing requirements and so on. Photography of any genre is not as simple as just taking the photo. Understand that good quality work takes time but is worth the investment.

22.01.2022 Emily & Riley... where do I start? These two gorgeous women chose me to be their photographer and I was so honoured. Both ladies are photographers (with Emily shooting mainly weddings - you can see her awesome stuff here @emilyhowlettphotography) so to say I didn't feel a little pressure would be a lie. But once I was there I was given the space and time needed to do my job and I respected that because I know even I find it hard when Im not the one behind the camera. Overall ...the day was amazing, it was filled with so much love and so many talented vendors (just see the spic list below). Just because these platforms hold a strong presence on phones doesn't mean that phones should be the tool you solely rely to to capture your images. Professional photographs stand out whether it be on your website, Facebook, or Instagram. 19.01.2022 It's 12 o'clock somewhere right? Pic snapped on a past trip in Tahiti... JOKES! This glass of red coloured water was shot on some card in my driveway. The monstera leaf was held by my 4 year old and *pop* there goes the illusion of cocktails on tropical islands.... When Australia is no longer in lockdown I would love to head somewhere warm with the kids. I have literally been daydreaming of a vacation. I've had some miserable winters in the past but this one is taking the cake. Where will you be off too when we are given the OK to travel outside our States/Territories (and Country) again.

18.01.2022 Flatlay fabulous. Currently working on some portfolio images to update my website and this bad boy's going front and centre. Its everything I love wrapped up in one fun (and very bright) picture. Flatlays can be so much more than showing off a few products, they can also be a great way of showing your audience what you're about without plastering your face online all the time. Flatlays are also a great visual for those within a trade or service where visual content is hard t...o display. 17.01.2022 Did you know when first starting out in my photography journey I mainly shot and edited interiors? Melbourne has some of the most beautiful properties in Australia and I was lucky enough to shoot and edit them full time at the beginning of my career. I now have a love for interior design (an industry I really admire and respect) and would love to dive back into this kind of work. 17.01.2022 Covid-19 and weddings. What the wedding industry is going to look like with Covid-19 lingering about is anyone's guess. There are many paths you can travel to ensure your wedding has its best chance of going ahead sooner rather than later. Keeping the guest list small, planning an outdoor affair and keeping an open mind (including postponing to another date) is a great start when navigate these uncharted waters. Please remember the wedding industry is really hurting right now so postpone or downsize rather than cancel and support local small business as best you can, because we too have bills to pay and families to support. 11.01.2022 Digtal Art. Adding an art component to imagery is something I have been exploring lately. With photography content being blasted into our from every which way and direction digital art can be a great way to stand out in all the noise. The art element doesn't have to be complicated but can add a level of fun into what was previously a straight forward image. Adding digital art on your photos also allows you to re-use images with a different look each time. This is a great opt...ion for those with limited products. Ok disclaimer I am NOT an artist but stripes, swirls and colours I can do. Should you be in the market for something more advance I'm not your gal!

11.01.2022 This is my life. A constant balancing act between home and work. I don't often get it right but Im proud of where Im at so far. Unfortunately I don't work the typical 9-5. My email replies may be a day or two behind. I might miss your call. With so many channels of communication (fb, instagram, email, text....etc) it can be hard to keep up. But don't dismay once Im onboard with your project Im there for you. Between organising your shoot to supplying your marketing material I will ensure your needs a met. Being self employed with young kids is super challenging but I wouldn't have it any other way.

11.01.2022 My take on the beach set up flatlay shot for @leecie_clayearrings. Anyone else excited fr tomorrows weather??? Side note I never remember to take lip gloss/lip balm/ lipstick anywhere. Also haven't read a book at the beach for over 4 years (thanks kids). I do genuinely love all products in this shoot though (they are personal items after all!).

10.01.2022 I can't really sew but I did buy all the things to make a few masks for me and the fam because at the time there was nothing bright enough for my taste (if you have to wear a mask you might as well make it a cheerful one). After bringing all the goods home inspiration struck for a fun flatlay. This was the result . So overall a good purchase, marketing material and fun masks, win-win. That wasn't even a joke it really does tick all my boxes.

10.01.2022 Ah getting your business headshot seem to be so much effort huh? Well it isn't, its actually super easy and super quick. The shoot itself can take less that 5 min per person depending on your needs and then I can retouch you as little or as much as you like so you are completely happy with the end result. Putting a face to the name is vital with the online marketing world as it is today. Not only do we have websites but a range of multiple online media platforms which all seem to need a little square portrait. Make sure yours looks up to scratch with a professional snap!

09.01.2022 The bags under my eyes are so humongous at the moment that I need this giant pair of sunglasses to hide them (I wish I was kidding). Why do you ask? Well, its because I'm *attempting* to update my website but failing to find the time during the day with the kids at home. So this means most of the magic is happening in the evenings when I work at 40% capacity (at best and that's with coffee).... The last few nights I have felt on a roll (in between youtube distractions) which has seen me work into the wee hours. I'm really excited to share my new site and its coming along but fear it is still a few weeks away. So hold tight and as soon as its relaunched Ill fill you in (so then you can point out all my late-night spelling mistakes).

03.01.2022 Hands up if you are struggling to get out of your PJs today? That's where I'm at right now. Working from home is awesome and it totally sucks. Pros: there is no travel time, you have an endless supply of snacks (if you have recently shopped) and work attire is optional. ... Cons: there is no official start time which can be problematic if I'm REALLY not feeling it, I eat all the snacks and my co-workers are under 5 and interrupt me constantly while invading my personal space. Yep, the struggle is real and I'm desperate to get some shooting in this week.

02.01.2022 Happy Monday folks. This is a post for all those working passionately on their side hustle while being employed or raising a family (or both!). We all start somewhere and the marketing investment you put into today can really help turn that side hustle into something bigger. I know at this stage budgets are tight. To break down the costs I charge a shoot fee and then editing fee so you can get what you need snapped but only pay for what you want to use at that time. The images left out are kept on file and can be edited at a later date that suits you, your marketing and your budget.

02.01.2022 One background - multiple options. With thanks to good old photoshop, the background you're snapped on isn't the only one you are stuck with. It's quite easy to change things up whether it be the colour you're presented on or a custom filter that suits your brand. Keeping true to your image is important and should be discussed before coming in for your headshot. I want you to be happy (like REALLY happy) with the photos you end up with. 01.01.2022 Some days being a parent is just so hard. Nothing entertains them, nothing fills that hunger void and they are constantly having emotional breakdowns. Other days they can be entertained for hours with a packet of pipe cleaners. Consistent? No. Cute? Definitely. Driving me crazy? Most of the time but I wouldn't have it any other way.
