22.01.2022 Menopause Hormone Therapy shortages in Australia. There has been a recent shortage of some menopause hormone therapy (MHT) preparations in Australia in 2020. Many of these shortages have now been resolved or should be resolved by early to mid-2021. It is advised that you visit your doctor/GP well before your prescription expires to ensure that you are not left without the preparation you need. Should the preparation you need not be available your doctor will be able to suppl...y a substitute until the shortage of your regular preparation is resolved. Please see link below for more details. https://www.shfpact.org.au//405-menopause-hormone-therapy-

07.01.2022 Listen up Canberra There’s been a recent rise in outbreaks of viral gastroenteritis (gastro) in childcare centres. We need your help to stop the spread of gas...tro. If your child is vomiting or has diarrhoea, keep them at home and away from other children. Once their symptoms have stopped, keep them at home for another 48 hours. Make sure everyone in your house washes their hands regularly with soap and water especially after going to the toilet and before you eat. Remember, hand sanitiser does not replace soap and water. Only use hand sanitiser (with at least 60-80% alcohol) if soap and water isn’t accessible and your hands aren’t visibly dirty. Clean frequently touched surfaces and objects, like benchtops, doorknobs, computers and mobile phones. When cleaning, use a detergent-based product to clean surfaces. If cleaning up after a body fluid spill, use a diluted bleach solution after first cleaning the surface with a detergent based product. For further tips to stop the spread of gastro, see our factsheet https://bit.ly/gastro-factsheet

05.01.2022 Under Kirsty McGovern-Hooley’s leadership, SHFPACT has been proud to collaborate with and grateful for the support of the ACT Council of P&C Associations in advocating for safer, more inclusive and welcoming school communities. We congratulate her for three years of dedicated service to our community in this role, wish her and family some well deserved rest, and look forward to seeing her contributions in new areas. SHFPACT also looks forward to continuing to work with parent/carer community and advocates for public education.

03.01.2022 World AIDS Day is held on 1 December each year. It raises awareness across the world and in the community about HIV and AIDS. It is a day for the community to show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died of AIDS related conditions or other conditions associated with HIV. The HIV/AIDS epidemic in Australia has changed a lot since the 1980s, but globally HIV/AIDS remains a challenge. Find out more by watching this short video from Living Positive Victoria. Locally people living with and affected by HIV can access community supports from Meridian - formerly AIDS Action Council
