24.01.2022 Emily Olsson- Cutter Heya I’m Em, If I was to describe myself, I would say talking too much is at the top of the list. I guess it works well with the profession I’m in. I’m a very passionate person so anything I love, especially hair, fashion and design I’ll chat for days about. Outside of work I’m equally as passionate about sport and training for boxing tournaments (except for 2020), having an outlet from the everyday grind is super important to me! I’m incredibly soci...al and truely believe a cup of tea or a glass of Pinot solves everything. I think If I wasn’t hairdressing, I would probably be doing something in interior decorating. My obsession with plants, art and furniture is out of control. I’ve spent a lot of 2020 hanging at home thinking about what the ideal dream would be; to be honest it’s stayed the same... Directing fashion shows is an ultimate goal for me, it has been since I started hairdressing. Being able to combine fashion with hairstyling, what a bloody dream that is!! #shibuifamily #meetthegang #melbournehairdresser

16.01.2022 Simon Farrelly- Head Cutter Hi I'm Simon, my friends call me Si. I love to tune in with yoga and tune out with music. Breathing is totally underestimated! However you are feeling, check your breath is long and steady and not short and jumpy. Becoming conscious of our breath is a great place to start being conscious in daily life .... I’m currently listening to the ‘original’ Woodstock soundtrack from 1969! Some of the greatest contemporary music of the 60’s at one big festival! 3 days of peace, love and music. I dream of mountain living, rugged coastlines and fertile bush land. I dream of fresh air and no pollution for my daughter Mia and future generations #shibuifamily #meetthegang #melbournehairdresser

15.01.2022 Shaun Clarke- Colourist Hey I’m Shaun, I grew up in a small town (population 1001) in rural Victoria. Majority of my adult life has taken place in Melbourne, aside from 2 year stints in London & Sydney.... To tune out I find a quiet place and have some tea or escape into nature. I’m currently reading Open Book by celebrated author Jessica Simpson. If I wasn’t hairdressing I would like to have trained early in life to become an acrobat, platform diver or gymnast. The dream would be to have an abundance of freedom. To divide every year between living here and overseas. To volunteer time to causes involving animal welfare. I’d like to spend time with owls in particular. #shibuifamily #meetthegang #melbournehairdresser

14.01.2022 Jordy Bennett- Colourist Hey I'm Jordy! I've been in Melbourne and working for shibui coming up to 5 years now, but I'm originally from a beautiful seaside town in the North Island of New Zealand.... How I tune out- My favorite way to tune out is walking along the beach. I love the soothing sound of crashing waves. I also love a good sunset, and a cheese platter! If i wasn't a hairdresser- Recently I've become really passionate about taking a more holistic approach to my health and well being. I would love to get into something like Aromatherapy. The dream- I would really love to live somewhere overlooking the ocean! and I've always wanted to travel South America. #shibuifamily #meetthegang #melbournehairdresser

13.01.2022 Joanne Tsaousis- Cutter Hey my name is Joanne, Nickname : Jo I was born in Melbourne and have a huge Greek family!... My fondest memory growing up is spending time with my cousins on school holidays. Fun facts: I love cooking and entertaining, especially love throwing epic parties. I also love summer and being by the pool or the beach with a cocktail in my hand I love being a hairdresser because of the connections and time I spend with my clients. If I wasn’t a hairdresser I’d be storm chaser.. I love a good thunderstorm #shibuifamily #meetthegang #melbournehairdresser

12.01.2022 Lou Jones- Cutter Hey I'm Lou, A Melbourne native - lover of good food, good music, good beer and good company... and dogs.... Why hairdressing- I love how tangible my job is - i feel lucky to say I meet new people every day and I get to make them feel good about themselves. If I weren’t a hairdresser - I've actually been 'not-a-hairdresser' for a number of years in other creative industries - there's a long list of obscure job titles like 'Traffic Manager' and 'Visual Scribe' on my CV, 'Hairdresser' is the title i like best. That being said I've loved jumping back into painting and drawing during lockdown! Fun facts- I can say the alphabet backwards. I’m listening to - today it was Shakey Graves 'Look Alive EP' and Gaidaa 'Overture'. Every day in lockdown is a new Spotify adventure. #shibuifamily #meetthegang #melbournehairdresser

12.01.2022 FEELING FREE! Heading to work today feeling like this #lockdownisover #Repost @gx1000

11.01.2022 Brent Barber- Cutter Hey I’m Brent or BB or just simply B. Officially I’ve been in the hair game for 28 years now (add another 5 if you want to count the undercuts I used to do in the school corridor at lunch break). I’ve always considered myself to be a pretty relaxed kinda guy and I think that’s reflected in the kind of work I do and the way I go about it. ... Iso has been a great opportunity to spend a lot more time with my beautiful family. We just added another to our tribe. A cheeky puppy named Oreo who you will probably see in salon in the coming months. When I manage to eek out some me time I’ll often set myself up in my Eams Chair in our sunroom at home, beer in hand and tap into Spotify and explore wherever the algorithms take me. If I wasn’t a hairdresser I’d probably be either an F1 driver or a florist- I don’t know actually. It’s what I’ve always done so it’s hard to imagine a life outside of hair. The dream is to one day set up a business with a few pals, have a salon/coffeehouse/bar/record store kinda vibe where we can play great tunes, talk a lot of rubbish and ease into some lazy beers on a sunny afternoon all the while doing some sweet hair. Pretty much what a smaller shibui would look like after a few Negroni’s #shibuifamily #meetthegang #melbournehairdresser

08.01.2022 We still have appointments available if you need a cut before Christmas! Give us a call on 98209130 no need to do anymore home haircuts. Great shot via @linascheynius

06.01.2022 Park Brown- Cutter Hi I’m Park, I am curious about people and relationships; reflected in my podcast/YouTube playlists. ... You can find me cooking, writing, drawing, walking my dog, exercising or watching tv with my favourite people. I am reading 'The Road Less Travelled' by M. Scott Peck, watching Red Oaks and eating too much dhal. I’d love the freedom to live in different parts of Australia, to spend more time with family and friends. #shibuifamily #meetthegang #melbournehairdresser
