16.01.2022 We are holding a fundraising Hallowe’en Quiz Night to raise money for some defibrillators in the estate, under the St John First Responder Program. Each defibri...llator costs $2000, plus the additional costs involved with securing it in an accessible location, signage and protecting it from the elements. Did you know that you don’t have to be elderly or unfit to suffer a cardiac arrest? Did you know that most cardiac arrest survivors have a good functional outcome? Did you know that for a defibrillator to be effective it needs to be applied to the patient as soon as possible ideally in the first 3 minutes to increase the patients chances of survival? With ambulance response times in the metro area being around 9 minutes on average, having a registered defibrillator nearby could potentially save lives. The event is family friendly, and there will be activities available for younger children who are not participating in the quiz. Tickets are $10 for members (join here!) or $15 for non-members. If you are purchasing a full table (8-10 people) all tickets are only $10 each, regardless of whether you are a member! We have some awesome prizes lined up, thanks to the generous contributions from many of our local businesses and members and there will also be a silent auction on the night with some fantastic goodies available. If you would like to be on the same table as other friends, neighbours or family members but you plan on purchasing tickets separately, please let us know in the comments field when purchasing your tickets so that we can ensure that you are seated together. Fancy dress is optional (but encouraged!) and there will be prizes for best dressed, so why not give your trick-or-treat costume a test run? There will be some snack food and non-alcoholic drinks for sale on the night, however you are welcome to bring your own table food and drinks (BYO permitted).
