16.01.2022 1938 Jiu Jitsu - New York -Grace Gerard Film release date: 1938 Location: New York- America... Description: This rare colour film shows 63 year old Jiu-Jitsu Instructor Mrs Grace Gerard instructing her female students. Being 63 in 1937 means she was born in 1874 and may have learnt from one of the first teachers to offer Jiu- Jitsu to the West. I was told their is a 1916 article on Grace herself teaching classes for students at Barnard College, and then another from 1924 in which she is described teaching self-defence for NYC policewomen. I have not seen either article but maybe someone who is on this group has.

07.01.2022 This is the fantasy and the reality of a relentless knife attack. The training knife is a plastic drinks bottle cut down to knife shape , because its very fle...xible you can stab and slash hard, unfortunately I did not have time to sand the edges smooth, so the blade is wrapped in red packing tape, unfortunately my training partner suffered a small cut, nothing serious. Good idea to wear eye protection when going full out. See more

04.01.2022 Benny Urquidez - Old School Fighter Is known as one of the Greatest American Kickboxerers. In late 1974, in the grand finale of an early mixed martial arts-styl...e tough man contest in Honolulu, Hawaii, a 5-foot 6-inch 145-pound Urquidez decisioned a 6-foot 1-inch 230-pound Dana Goodson after scoring a takedown and pin against Goodson in the third and final round. In 1977, Urquidez traveled to Japan and fought under the WKA's compromise USJapan rules which included leg kicks and knees to the body.[11] He defeated Katsuyuki Suzuki by KO in the 6th round (August 1977), the fight between Urquidez and Suzuki, shocked Japan, where Japanese kickboxing had been very popular. On November 14, 1977, Urquidez's victory over Kunimitsu Okao convinced the Japanese fight fans. In 1984, he fought Ivan Sprang in Amsterdam under modified Muay Thai rules (no elbows), winning by 6th-round TKO. Urquidez has had training in nine styles: Judo, Kajukenbo, Shotokan, Taekwondo, Lima Lama, White Crane Kung Fu, Jujutsu, Aikido and American Kenpo. He is the founder of Ukidokan Karate. Urquidez retired from professional competition, remaining undefeated for 27 years, the longest reigning World Champion ever. Black Belt magazine voted Urquidez "Competitor of the Year" in 1978.
