17.01.2022 Another winter day on the Fitzroy and another top bloke joining the king threadfin metre club. Dan picked up a 1.2m king on hardbody lure early in the day and ...never looked back. After picking up a second larger threadfin it was obvious the area was holding XOS king and so we celebrated early successes and moved on. Next up was a nice winter baz coming in at 70cm that absolutely engulfed the lure. Water temps are starting to creep up finally, so barra will become more common as we move into spring. Final fish of the day was another king just on a metre that came out of skinny water and kept Dan on his toes. 16.01.2022 The Giant Trevally or GT was once considered a pest because they were so painful to catch yet today with advancements in tackle they have suddenly created a cul...t following amongst sport fisher who travel the world to pursue them. They also play an important role in promoting low impact fishing tourism in remote areas. Giving them a value is so much better than industrial fishing don’t you think? @almcglashan See more

06.01.2022 Over the next few weeks every Tuesday we are going to bring you tips from the locals. The Rocky locals have got you covered with some helpful fishing tips. Tod...ay’s tip is about the TIDES - Generally speaking, the best tides for lure and fly fishing for Barra are the last half of the run-out and the first part of the run-in, especially two or three days after a neap tide (smallest tidal movements) and as the tidal range starts to build towards the spring tides. Barramundi tend not to feed as hard during the actual neap tides, because of the lack of run and movement in the water. The other big advantage is that water clarity is usually at its best at this time, giving the fish you are targeting a much better chance to see your fly or lure. Reel Fishing CQ

01.01.2022 One of the best places to stay for the upcoming King of Kings!
01.01.2022 Two people were recently charged with serious environmental offences following the discovery of 13 drums at two sites in Farnborough, near #Yeppoon last year. ...It is alleged the two individuals obtained the 44-gallon drums of used paint thinner from a Yeppoon-based company, and dumped nine drums into a lagoon near Corio Bay Fish Habitat Reserve Road. The drums leaked waste paint thinner into the lagoon, causing environmental harm and resulting in the death of marine life. The remaining four drums were dumped in bushland near Iwasaki Road and did not cause environmental harm. The two individuals are due to appear in the Yeppoon Magistrates Court, charged with wilfully causing material environmental harm. The charge carries a maximum penalty of $600,525 or two years in prison. It is alleged the two individuals also obtained a financial benefit by disposing of the drums unlawfully. The Yeppoon company, while unaware the drums would be dumped, had a responsibility to ensure they were disposed of lawfully. The company has contributed almost $30,000 in costs associated with removal of the drums from the lagoon. The company will also provide almost $15,000 for the removal of the drums from bushland, and contribute $10,000 to the Livingstone Shire Council to assist in combating illegal dumping, under the terms of an enforceable undertaking between the company and the department. As the environmental regulator, we are committed to ensuring strong action is taken against those who cause environmental harm. #qldenvironment
