24.01.2022 Everyone had a great day at our RISE Together community mentoring outing. Thank you to our amazing kids and volunteers for joining in on some arts and craft activities at Adventure Playground Goulburn. We think we have some future Picassos in the group.

23.01.2022 In a year that will go down as one of the toughest on record for so many in our community, at SHINE for Kids we remain passionate about transforming the lives of children and families who have contact with the criminal justice system. Despite a challenging year that included bush fires, a global pandemic and prison visits suspended for much of the year we have continued to support 5,134 children and almost 2,000 families. Our 200+ volunteers have given 6,000 hours of their ti...me across all our programs. With the support of our partners we have extended our services from 23 to 26 Correctional Centres and our RISE Education program to 11 locations nationally. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our teams delivered 4,500 activity and letter writing packs and over 700 online mentoring sessions to 956 children. We are delighted to share with you our 2020 Annual Review https://lnkd.in/g4ttk_5 Wishing all our supporters Happy Holidays, and we look forward to seeing you in 2021.

21.01.2022 Great to be partnering with Parklea Correctional Centre to deliver our Storytime Dads program for fathers in custody to stay connected to their children. Those Dads who are participating get to choose a new book for their child from Dymocks Children's Charities. Our dedicated SHINE team help the Dads record their voices reading the book especially for their child. SHINE then delivers the book and the recording to the children. Storytime is a great way to provide comfort to children with a Dad in custody who have been unable to visit for the more than 9 months because of the pandemic. https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au//90ec65fed9d3ef83f204eb3

08.01.2022 Good news for NSW families with a loved one in custody. Visits resume from Monday 18 January for one adult and up to 3 children. COVID-safe measures still apply. If you are visiting why not drop in and say hello to our Child and Family worker at one of our centres. They have really missed the children.
